Work order editor is missing key features
The new work order editor feature could be quite useful but is currently mostly unusable since it wont let you change part sizes or material thickness, you can change the quantities and sizes of materials but not thickness for some reason.... This would have saved me a couple hours of re doing work because a sheet thickness changed and now I have to reprocess everything for the job.
Machining for file bars
For our file drawers, we run small routes in the front & back of the drawer that holds the file bar in place. We currently have a parametric program we use in WoodWop but how can I incorporate this to automatically populate in MV when a File Drawer is selected? Is it tons of work to make this happen?
Product Label Image
How can I edit the image that is produced on a product label? I can't even find where they are located. I know they are generic images that pertain to a product no matter its size or makeup so i figure there should be a folder full of them somewhere. Does anybody know where they are located?
Modify Workorder parts material
In the Processing Center screen could the functionality to change the material of an individual part row be added? The modify work order screen for adding material size and changing material name has been very useful but I was wondering if Microvellum could go one step further with this functionality. My thought was a drop down arrow for each part in the material name column that would allow a user to select a different material for an individual row. The dropdown would only show material of exactly
Process New Cabinets in Existing Work Order
Is there a way to process a new batch of cabinets in an existing Work Order? Right now, every time I run a new batch of cabinets, I have to create a new Work Order. We process cabinets for each room and every project has several rooms. This makes the Work Order folder grow very fast with so many folders. If I could add new batches of cabinets to an existing Work Order, I could keep all the batches from a project together in a single Work Order. This would reduce the amount of folders in the Work
Labels for architectural panels
When you have a room labeled "lobby wall panels", Microvellum will print all of the labels for those panels with "lobby wall panels" at the top. But for installation of those panels, you have to have each panel with its own row and column number on it, so that you know exactly where it goes on the wall. Is there a way to make that happen in Microvellum? Or do you just need to print your architectural panel numbers on a different set of labels?
Multiple labels to match part count
Does anyone know how to make the single part report print more then one label per part if the part court is greater then one? Thanks for any pointers!
Face Frame Report adding Blank Page For Frameless Cabinets
In my Face Frame reports, I have been getting a single blank page for every Frameless cabinet processed. Wondered if anyone knows a way to prevent this from happening. Thanks, Josh
label order for nesting
What defines the order of the labels for the MV nesting optimization? For example, our labels sometimes come out of order, meaning one label from one pattern will be mixed up with labels for another pattern. The information on the labels is correct but we have to manually sort through the roll of labels to find idividual ones that aren't in the same group as others from that same sheet.
Nesting Parts - Centerline Routing
I created and processed parts for a die wall. When I open the drawing with the nested parts, it looks good with the nested parts being cut using Centerline routing. After I create the Machine G-Code for the panel, the Centerline routing becomes Right Compensated routing . I did the same thing yesterday with basically the same parts and the Centerline routing remained Centerline routing after making G-Code. I have not changed the toolfile or the processing station. I tried creating a new work order
How to make Hardware machining to move from face 6 to face 5?
I am using ROUTEDHOLE as a machining token for hardware (lock) and want to make it on face 5. By default, it is on face 6 and lock assembly is on face 6 too. Is there any way I can have that machining on face 5?
MV is Flipping Parts for CNC -- How do I stop this?
I have some single parts with holes drilled at specific locations but in equal increments. The whole unit had to be split up but it wasn't perfectly symmetrical so the hole patterns differ from part to part. We are getting one section ready to be dry
Perfect Grain For Horizontal Grain
We are starting to see more horizontal grain cabinets specified, I'm wondering how other shops are dealing with horizontal grain-matching? We are sending all our doors & drawer fronts to a nesting router so on the few small projects I've had I have manually aligned the parts. This process is time consuming and doesn't work great when there is a drawer base next to a door cabinet because due to the router bit diameter it is impossible to lineup parts. I would send the parts to our beam saw but MV
Make all router tools designed as the Incremental Step tool?
This would make perfect sense to me. What am I missing? If there was a "Max Cut Depth Per Pass" and "Max Total Cut Depth" for each tool, then you would never have to make Multiple step tools, or multipass tools (providing only 1 tool number is involved). MV would always add passes as needed for thickness. The Vectric programs are set up that way, and I haven't run into any problems because of it. There must be a reason so if anybody knows what I'm overlooking, please tell me?
Why is there a field for sheet quantity if it doesn't tell you when you have exceeded inventory?
This has always been a question for me. Why even have a field for number of sheets if there is no functionality that uses it? Or is this one of those issues where, if you buy another module, it can be made to work? I hope not. Theoretically, one would think that the field is there so you can input your inventory, and at least be notified when you run out, or, even better, be given the opportunity to use another sheet size if you run out of the ideal size. Does anybody know if MV has ever, or
Work order problem
Hi, when i go to do a work order for my jobs it tells me i don't have any products in the jobs. but when i go check my product list its all there. what could be wrong?
Removing Border Rout From Nest
I am trying to figure out the best way to remove the border route for parts going to the nested router. I just finished a project with 16 head-wall panels, all the same size but with each having about a dozen unique cutouts for electrical, med gas etc, no two panels were the same. Normally all our parts are nested at the router but because of the proximity of the cutouts to the panel edges I needed to cut the panels to size, edgeband, then machine the cutouts on the router. I accomplished this by
How do I change a product name based on whether a checkbox in the product prompts is checked?
I am adding a checkbox prompt called Island Base in all base cabinets. If it is checked, the bottom is made to equal the cabinet width, the bottom x origin is moved left by the amount of the side thickness, the sides height are reduced by the bottom thickness, and the sides z origin is increased by the bottom thickness. I would also like to append the product name with the word "Island". What kind of formula do I need, and where do I need to put it?
Print text and dimensions added to composite (nested) drawings on Nested Optimization Report
We find it necessary to add additional text to the composite drawings for operators and fabricators for misc parts; wall paneling, diewall ribs, plates, etc. Currently the Report will not show any of the newly added information and each view has to be plotted. It would be a huge time saver if there was a layer that we could add the required information to and print on the Nested Optimization Report!
Sawing optimizer optimizing each part on separate sheet.
After processing, somehow the sawing optimizer is optimizing each part on a separate sheet and giving me extra sheets than actually needed. For example, I have two doors in a product and optimizer is giving me those two doors on two separate sheets.
Creating New Machining G-Code from Drawing in Single Part Editor
When I try to create a new machining G-Code from a drawing for a new work order, the first batch always gets an error saying "The path is not valid. Check the directory for the database...'". I click "OK" to the error message. The same error message pops up a couple of more times after clicking "OK" again. After 3 tries, it says the process is complete. Before processing, I checked for the work order folder and it has been created. When I try process it again afterwards, it works fine. All subsequent
Cut Part width and length different in label than in Nesting Optimization Report
We have an edgebander with premil, and we are trying to get setup with as much precision as possible so the cut size incorporates the banding thickness and the premill amount. While doing that, I used decimal units to get as much precision as possible. I notice the reported cut size on the label doesn't match the reported cut size on the Nesting Optimization report. I tried to go into report designer and figure out why there is such a difference, but that's pretty advanced for me and I was unable
Machining Updates
Today I am editing G-Code, again. We have a project with thousands of 1.5" holes is 1.5" hardwood. What I am doing is programming this with a step cut, first at .75 and then at -0.0050. The issue is that Microvellum has never figured out how to ramp from the first to second cut. No we have to raise the tool and start over for the second cut, this is a huge time waste. So I edit the code, it's actually pretty easy, to ramp from the first to second cut. I have been doing this for years all the
Option to recall a work order list
I know we can pull up a work order that has already been created but i would like to see an option that would back that up one step. I would like to be able to pull up the work order at the step where you are creating the work order and just selecting your products. SO many times i process a work order and something is wrong and i have to go back and make a correction somewhere and then run it again. But since a change has been made i have to go through the entire process of selecting every single
Add a column in Overdrive Pro that shows the room each product is in.
When you are open in the whole project it shows every product. The rooms are sub cagetories to the project. When looking to find which room a cabinet is in, you have to click and search each room. It would save considerable time if the root listing for the project had a column for the room the cabinet is in. Then it would be simple to look up the cabinet number and see which room it is in.
Not selecting correct tool
Has anybody else had an issue with the routing tool not being correct in the machine files. I have MDF cutters set up for MDF, and the correct tool names in the MDF material file, yet when it is processed and sent to the CNC its reverting back to the default Particle board cutter.
Stimulsoft Report Code
In the old version of stimulsoft reports supplied you could click on the code tab and edit code of the report manually. In the new version, I cannot find where to do this anywhere. Any direction would be appreciated. Thanks
Work Order Selection - Search function no longer searches
Has anyone else noticed since installing Build #20.1.417.642 to TOOLBOX for AutoCAD 2020 or 2019, you can no longer use the the search bar to find a Work Order (WO) or WO group in Edit Existing Work Order > Work Order Selection > Search? This is happening on both the workstation and travel laptop. Prior, I was able to enter my Job # or criteria and would have only those with in the search come up. Now it does nothing, just have to scroll through & find them manually. Pressing ENTER does nothing after
