I am not talking about DWG read only, we already have that from AutoCAD.  I am talking about having read only built into MV for it's files to prevent two users from being able to open a product, a subassembly, a spec group file at the same time and make edits.  Seems like a no brainer, but I am assuming there is some significant development required and thats why it's never been put into the program to date.  Now look don't chime into this and start talking about workflows and how you need to set up a procedure that prevents this from happening.  Duh! 

I have seen some things happen recently that have raised my suspicion that multiple users being in the same file can create an orphaned record in the DB.  I think it's more than a matter of that only one of the multiple users who has any given file open will get the save.  All I am asking for is for a notification that another user has this open and you can view but not edit, is that really too much to ask, wouldn't that make the program more bullet proof......?
