Adjustable Closet Rods

I added a couple Adjustable Closet Rods to an open Cabinet. The top Rod needs 2 holes 5mm - 32mm apart and the second closet rod needs 6 Holes 5mm - 32mm apart. I tried to add a machine token to the rod but i cannot get any holes. Can someone help with this?
