New to Microvellum and looking for advice on creating client facing shop drawings that are also detailed enough for production

Coming from AutoCAD where everything I had to draw was done from scratch, being able to create sections in MV with the ease of a button is already a great time saver. I also like being able to provide realistic views in 3D. However one of the biggest things I did not like when drawing in 3D using Solidworks was that dimensions were not always dynamic.. I would spend a great deal of time detailing things, but when redlines came & I adjusted something to the model, the dims would lose their association forcing me to re-dimension things and spend more time detailing. 

I noticed when placing my own annotations in Microvellum, they give me the same nightmares that Solidworks did, lol.. The dimensions automatically generated by Microvellum are not sufficient. Most of the time it is missing a good portion of what I want to see in a section. Auto generated dims will go back to its default location if I stretch them further or closer to a product. Dims I place myself disappear sometimes or do not adjust at all when I redraw or make changes to a product.

I was shown by our specialist how to add dimension tokens if we wanted dynamic annotation? which I guess in theory would solve part of the problem, but upon a glance they may not offer all the types we may want to see. It also seems very very time consuming to click around a bunch of menus just to add a singular token, not even really knowing what all the options are going to give you until you go through the prompts and then do it all over again if it wasn't what you wanted

I am rambling, I know... in the end I just want to be able to place a dimension and have it adjust with my product but it does not seem that easy. We are also just trying to get better at providing as much information as possible on drawings so there is no question in the shop as to what is what, or how something is assembled. 

What are some work arounds or tips that you use to create more detailed shop drawings?
