Annotative scaling and item numbers

I've checked the box for annotative scaling on the Autocad tab in the options dialogue, and made sure the dim scale and text are also on annotative.  They seem to be working, but the item numbers aren't scaling like the dims and text are.  What do I need to do to make the item numbers scale annotatitvely?
