Best Setups for Cutting Metal Laminates
We've got a couple jobs coming up that are very heavy on metal laminates - Chemetal, Alumasteel, etc. I'm curious what setups some of you might be using to cut said materials.
What bits do you recommend? What feed rates and spindle speeds do you have setup? Are you running a multi-tool setup? Is anyone using features like stay-down nesting to reduce the number of plunges to help curb dulling of the bits?
From my research, I've found that 2-flute cutters have been pretty successful with spindle speeds between 12,000 and 20,000 RPMs and feed rates between 5-7 fps (60-80 ips).
But I'm curious what others may have used to be successful with these types of materials.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
