Hey everyone,
Just got done with a lengthy discussion with my manager about what we should or shouldn't save to the library, and what our process for entering cabinets looks like. We work commercially and enter large amounts of cabinets through the product list. I'm looking for ways to speed up entering cabs, and make it easier to differentiate between a stock library product and custom product.
Currently if we need to create a custom cabinet we will give it a custom name and keep the cabinet in a "Mod" room to be copied to other rooms throughout the job. This is kind of tedious though. The process of switching to the MOD room and then finding the product to copy and then find the room I need to copy it to can get annoying, and takes time. It adds up when entering large jobs with many custom products.
I've thought about saving these custom products to the library instead for easier access, but realized this would mean anyone who would be making these custom cabs would have the ability to save cabinets over our standard library products. We don't really want this to be possible.
Is there a good solution to speeding up the process of copying the same product throughout a job? Maybe a feature I haven't noticed? Which of these two workflows are ya'll using, which one do you think is best?
I think the best solution would be a new feature. To be able to lock down certain folders of the library from designated users. Keeping people's standard products safe, while allowing users to save a cabinet to the library to be able to quickly enter it many times later in the job. Or maybe we could get a "Job Specific" library that would be cool. It's not "necessary" but is something I think would make product entry much easier and streamlined.
Eager to hear others opinion on the matter. What do ya'll think? I'll make this an Idea so others can vote.
