Changing drawer track name & number when vendors make updates

One of our drawer track vendors is updating and changing the name / part # of their drawer track. 
​(Fulterer USA; specifically the 5043 to 5045)
 
My thought process to update the software is to simply go into the Global and rename the 5043 to 5045 in the hardware library as well as the CAD files.  Then go into the lookup tables and make the same updates.  

My question is how or if this will effect current and existing jobs that are calling for the now discontinued 5043.  We are okay with some of the existing jobs having the old number till we work those through.  We just want new jobs and jobs we choose to update to then be correct.  


Is there possibly an easier or better way to accomplish this change?
