Drafting Lead & Microvellum / AutoCAD Specialist

Historic architectural woodworking company is seeking an experienced Microvellum/AutoCad specialist to lead our Drafting Department. Our company focuses on designing and drafting custom architectural woodwork and cabinetry using AutoCAD and Microvellum. We have been proudly serving the Midwest for over 130 years and our work can be found in many of the historic and celebrated buildings in the region. The ideal candidate will have experience with Microvellum 25.1 and the latest versions of AutoCAD. Experience managing a small Drafting department a plus.

Key Responsibilities

· Drafting and Design: Utilize latest version of AutoCAD and Microvellum 25.1 to create detailed drawings for custom woodworking, cabinetry, millwork and architectural woodwork projects based on customer specifications, sketches and blueprints.

· Manage Team: Lead the drafting department by allocating work and ensuring quality output.

· Project Management Support: Work with client project managers, designers and fabricators to ensure that design plans meet client requirements and are optimized for production efficiency.

· Technical Documentation: Create comprehensive technical documents, cut lists, material take-offs and specifications required for production and installation of custom wood products.

· Collaboration: Communicate effectively with vendors, clients and internal team members to ensure successful execution of projects from concept to completion.

· Custom Solutions: Design custom woodwork solutions tailored to specific client needs, ensuring design feasibility and adherence to quality standards.

· Quality Control: Review and revise drawings based on feedback from production teams, ensuring all designs are precise, accurate and aligned with project specifications.

· Software Management: Stay current with updates and best practices in AutoCAD and Microvellum to ensure optimal use of software tools in daily operations.

Requirements

Experience: Minimum 3 years experience using AutoCAD and Microvellum for designing custom woodwork, cabinetry or millwork. Experience in the woodworking or construction industry a plus.

Skills:

· Strong knowledge of woodworking terminology, construction methods and materials

· Ability to create detailed shop drawings, including 2D models, material lists and cut sheets

· Experience with CNC programming or preparing designs for CNC machining is a plus

· Skilled in reading and interpreting architectural blueprints, drawings and specifications.

· Ability to effectively communicate with clients and occasionally visit sites to interact with project managers, installers and other site personnel.

Preferred Qualifications

· Education: Degree or certification in architecture, drafting, design or related field

· CNC Programming Experience: Familiarity with CNC software or the ability to prepare files for CNC cutting and machining a plus

· Previous leadership or management experience

· Project Management: experience coordinating multiple projects simultaneously and working under deadlines

Compensation

Job Specifics:

· Type: Full Time Salary

· Pay: $65 - 70,000
