I'm wondering what other companies are doing to create their spec pages. Specifically pages that detail finish colors, hardware selections, edgebanding selections, and construction specs. Currently we create our spec pages manually in autocad, but I'd like for this data to be tied with Microvellum's Spec Groups. The idea is to eliminate one more task in our workflow, and better prevent the chance of someone entering the wrong specs into MV. I've got two different Ideas.
1. I've heard of the User Defined Properties which can reference the W! and G! workbooks, but I fail to see how this works very well when you could have many different spec groups across a job. For example, How would you list all of your exterior laminate colors? And there's another downside... the spec group name each "property" is looking for, is a static value. Meaning you'd have to redirect the Properties to your spec groups each time their name is changed/copied.
I suppose I could create a MV report that generates these pages, however we've always had every page of our books in Autocad. This way we can better manage our pages, and use the Sheet Set Manager. I guess exporting the report into autocad via a pdf or excel/data link could work. This seems like the better option.
It would be great to hear others input, or how they have been able to automate this task
