EnRoute import — text file or DXFs?

Hi all,

Hoping someone using the EnRoute module can clear this up for me.

When I go to import in EnRoute and choose Microvellum as the import type, what am I actually meant to be pointing it at? At the moment I'm using the DXF files out of the job folder, and while the geometry comes in fine, I get nothing else — no part names, no part numbers, no labels. Just outlines on layers.

I'm assuming there's meant to be a text file (or similar data file) that EnRoute reads alongside or instead of the DXFs, the way a few other CAM packages handle it — one file that carries the part names, sizes and material so everything comes in identified rather than just as shapes.

So a few questions:

  1. Is the Microvellum import in EnRoute expecting a text/data file rather than the DXFs?
  2. If so, which output do I need to be generating from Microvellum, and where does it get written to?
  3. Is there a setting in the processing station or output config I've missed that turns that file on?
