Gettig Started with Microvellum- Designer/Drafter Role

Hi. Hope everyone is having a good time. I just have a quick question. I am a cabinetmaker by trade, I am upskilling as a drafter/detailer.  
Question: Where should I start? I mean there is microvellum university for education, but is there any version of software for practice for free or do I need to buy the subscription?
