Creating Custom Pocket Machining - Hatch Polyline

Quoting from the knowledge base, "Hatch Polyline Allows you to create a pocket routing operation for a custom shaped polyline"

I must have a curse with commands not working right unless I try ten thousand times because I am having trouble replicating this pocket without it appearing incorrectly in my drawing or looking right but then cutting incorrectly on the CNC..

Currently, I have tried to draw a polyline to the shape I need, selecting the Tool, picking the polyline, and then going to the Edit Routes tab to "Hatch Polyline". I pick the tool I want, but when I select the line I want, most of the time no hatch happens. I am left with scrap in the center of my "pocket" that needs to be cleaned up. Of course I can draw more lines manually to achieve the pocket cleanup, but I am looking for a time efficient option before I resort to that..

Can anyone offer insight on how they might achieve these pockets? as always, the answer is probably simple- I appreciate the advice

Thx :)
