Is there a way to Copy wireframe lines off of the model and paste them as CAD?

I've been struggling with what "Draw 2D Plan and Elevation and Section" select to draw. I know these defaults can be tweaked but right now our team is only letting our drafting team head mess with those. And actually the tweaks I would want to make may not be something we'd want on the next job.
When I look at the wireframe of my model, it has everything. What I would like is to take that and make it CAD (if you just copy/paste, you'll actually be pasting a another 3D model). Then I could butcher the CAD as I need. Does this make sense?
