Has anyone ever experienced the material file randomly changing data?
For example, we have three rooms - kitchen, bedroom, bathroom. 3 completely different spec groups for each, all with independent components and all labelled as their relevant room. Kitchen is processed and all reports seem fine but you realize a few comments are missing from some parts so you add the comments and re run the kitchen from the start to then find all of the materials are incorrect! Looking at the material file, the materials have now been changed to what had been selected with the bedroom (we use formula driven materials), some of the pointers are now looking at what the pointers are looking at in the bathroom and some of the unique pointers created specifically for the kitchen spec group have been deleted!
Sound impossible, but unfortunately that is what we are experiencing.
We really wish we could identify what is triggering it, even if it was user error, but there is simply no explanation that I can find as to why it is happening.
We have had support look at this before and the only thing found from looking within SQL viewer, was random template spec groups and components were existing even though they were not within the template and with simply no explanation as to how they were there.
We are running on a SQL server and have had to have rebuilds recently due to the latest Windows security issues preventing us from running work orders, but this is now resolved and we have had this happen on a project today and has also happened a few times in the past. Once I found even random nonsensical entries in the material workbook!
This is an extremely difficult issue to pin down to identify the cause, be it due to our SQL server or MV, but I'm hoping someone else may have experienced anything similar which may help us identify a possible cause. Because with this type of issue, it very destructive for our work and a major cause for concern should it keep happening.
Thanks in advance.
