With our latest Microvellum BSB and AC release, some of you may have noticed there wasn't a corresponding update for MicroManager / Production, as there normally would be. I wanted to explain why and share what we're working on to replace it.
The existing MicroManager / Production platform relies on older, unsupported code that needs to be retired. Rather than continuing to maintain that code, we're developing a new desktop application using components and capabilities already available in Microvellum BSB and AC. This will allow us to replace the older platform while maintaining the functionality customers rely on today.
With this replacement underway, we've made the decision to end further development of MicroManager / Production.
The final update for MicroManager / Production was build 26.1.0803.641. With the release of Microvellum BSB and AC 26.1.1012.641, we did not release a corresponding update for MicroManager / Production. This was intentional, as we're shifting our development efforts toward the replacement rather than continuing to provide fixes, improvements, or compatibility updates.
What does this mean for you?
If you're currently using MicroManager / Production, you can continue using it and activating the software as needed. The application is not being disabled or removed from your system.
We've always recommended keeping Microvellum BSB or AC and MicroManager / Production on matching release builds. While we expect MicroManager / Production to continue working with newer releases, we're no longer testing or validating compatibility beyond build 26.1.0803.641.
If you plan to update Microvellum BSB or AC while continuing to use MicroManager / Production, we recommend testing your workflows in a non-production environment before upgrading.

What's replacing MicroManager / Production?
The new standalone desktop application will provide a supported solution for managing projects, product libraries, and production data while maintaining the familiar Microvellum workflows customers rely on today.
When will it be available?
We're targeting later in Q4 2026 for the initial release.
As we get closer, we'll share more details about the new application, its capabilities, availability, and what the transition will look like for existing MicroManager / Production users.
