Microvellum Engineer Available – Subcontract (1099) | 21 Years Commercial Millwork

Hello all,

I'm Peter Turšič, Principal and Lead Microvellum Engineer at Tursic Millwork Solutions, LLC (Georgia). I work as a subcontractor for shops that need engineering capacity.

Experience (21 years)
  1. 19.5 years creating shop drawings, processing jobs, and building Microvellum products and product lines
  2. 15 years setting up and managing Microvellum libraries for shops
  3. 1.5 years on the shop floor building cabinets, helping build custom millwork such as reception desks and nursing stations, and running CNC equipment

I engineer with the build in mind, because I've built it.

Services
  1. Shop drawings/submittals for architectural casework and millwork
  2. Microvellum production engineering and CNC cut files
  3. New product development in Microvellum
  4. Microvellum library setup, cleanup, and management
  5. Microvellum report customization: reports built for engineering, project managers, and the shop floor, plus formatted exports for third-party inventory software
  6. CNC machine connectivity to Microvellum
  7. CNC tooling setup: router bit selection matched to materials, and boring head tool layout arranged to cut machining time
  8. Manufacturing process consulting and training

How I work

  1. Responsive. I answer emails within 24 hours, usually much sooner. I agree on a schedule up front. If a date is at risk, I will notify you early, with the reason and a revised date, not on the day it's due.
  2. Clear communication. Questions go out as numbered RFIs, each with a clear problem statement, the reference sheet, and a specific recommendation so that the reply can be a yes or no.
  3. Live review in Bluebeam Studio. Both parties mark up the drawing set in a live Studio Session, so there's no emailing PDFs back and forth or tracking which version is current.
  4. Shop drawings aren't design drawings. I check the design intent against how the work will be built, installed, and inspected. One example: on a multi-site retail rollout, I found that die-wall T-nuts dimensioned on the customer drawings would set the countertop at 34-3/8", above the ADA maximum. I flagged it with corrected dimensions before production.
  5. Detail first, approval second. I don't rush submittals to get a stamp, since engineering issues are much cheaper to fix on paper than on the shop floor.
  6. AWI and ADA. I work in compliance with AWI Standards and the 2010 ADA Standards for Accessible Design and follow your shop's standards and processes where you have them. Every submittal I prepare sets ADA counter and sink rim heights at 33-3/4" instead of 34", so out-of-level floors don't push finished work over the maximum, and the cover sheet notes this deviation for the architect and GC.
  7. Process. If your engineering department has written procedures, I will follow them. If it doesn't, I can help put them in place.

Software: Microvellum Toolbox (AutoCAD or BricsCAD), Bluebeam (Studio). Drawings are delivered as native DWG and PDF files.

I'm currently accepting a limited number of new projects. If your engineering backlog is growing or you need overflow help on a rollout program, email me, and I'll reply within 24 hours.
