Hi everyone,
I'd like to suggest a practical improvement to part labels that would help operators quickly identify parts on the nest sheet without extra steps.
Current situation: Our labels already show a small furniture preview image (see photo). This is useful for understanding what the part belongs to — but it doesn't help the operator find the part physically on the CNC nest sheet.
Proposed improvement — two additions to the label:
1. Nesting position mini-map Replace or supplement the furniture preview with a small thumbnail of the full nest sheet, with the current part highlighted/filled in black. This way the operator can instantly see exactly where the part is located on the sheet — no need to cross-reference a separate nest printout.
2. Machine origin arrow Add a small arrow (or triangle marker) in one corner of the label indicating the machine's base point (X0/Y0 origin). This tells the operator which way to orient the sticker when applying it to the part, so the label direction always matches the machine direction.
Why this matters:
Has anyone implemented something like this through a custom label report or label designer? Would love to hear if there's a workaround, and I'd love to see this as a standard feature in Microvellum.
Thanks!
