Please implement proper archiving!

Here at Homestead, we have thousands of projects in Microvellum dating back more than 10 years, and our database has grown to over 80 GB. We're reaching the point where its size is noticeably affecting performance.

Years ago, we could archive projects in bulk by simply selecting them from a list. The process was straightforward, efficient, and reasonably fast.

Unfortunately, with the introduction of the Database Management tool, that functionality was removed and its replacement is slower than a sloth on Xanax.

Just how slow is it?

  • Selecting a single project takes nearly 10 seconds.

  • Selecting multiple projects is exponentially worse.

  • I recently tried selecting approximately 100 projects. After two hours, the tool still hadn't finished processing the selection! Just selecting, not even exporting.

At this rate, archiving our backlog of thousands of projects is practically impossible so I have been putting it off for years.

We need an efficient way to archive projects in bulk, without spending hours just waiting for the selection process to finish. The old functionality handled this reasonably well, so it's frustrating that its replacement has made such a basic maintenance task nearly unusable.

You can see how slow it is for yourself...

A configurable automated archiving feature would be preferable but anything would be better than not being able to archive at all.

Thank you!
