Replacing Products Best Practice

Hi all. Was wondering what you guys consider best practice for replacing products in an existing older  job with newer / latest versions of the same product (but named and saved differently). Right now updating the library products and adding a suffix to the product name of the standard cabinets that we want to keep isolated such that they don't get over written on library updates.

So we have a job that has Box Box File Drawers. ( a lot of them) I've updated the BBF and renamed it to our company standard.  So when going to that older job. We want to replace those older BBFs with our BBF New. We've tried going into Overdrive and renaming the description to the latest version name, but that doesn't do the trick. Using MVreplace seems to be the best fix, but it's a bit slow using it in model space. Is there another command that allows for this but on a global level like overdrive?

Thanks

Matthew
