Hello,
I have several panels where I want some edges of the back faces mitered at 45 degrees. I originally accomplished this with the miter machine token which accomplished the look in model space but did not appear in the CNC nesting. As I understand it now, that is not the correct way to do this if I want my CNC machine to route those.
I have a tool in my CNC machine and in my Microvellum routing tool library that I want to use for this. In the Draw Part In 2D procedure, I have tried drawing a polyline on the edges I want routed and applied the tool I want to use like I had already for routing out a hole I have in the panel elsewhere. But when I do this the shape of my tool is not reflected in the modeling, the entire diameter is cut to the specified depth. My tool part should cut a v-shape with 45 degree faces and I intended to place the tool compensation at the center so I would have a 45 degree edge on the panel with a depth of 3/4" and cutting 3/4" into the width of my panel. What's being modeled in Microvellum, as descried above, is the entire 3/4" wide section being removed.
I've been told that the CNC machine will still cut this as I intended for the design but since the 3D model doesn't reflect the cut correctly, I'm showing part dimensions in drawings that aren't accurate.
I have tried to attach any relevant pictures and information (for illustrative purposes I have changed the cut to 1/2" deep to show the difference in expected and modeled cut profiles). I watched the video below and tried to recreate the part following that procedure but the result was the same as above.
