True Shape Nesting Optimizer (Beta) Now Available
With the 25.1.1013.641 update, you can now try out the new True Shape Nesting Optimizer Beta!
If you already have the True Shape Nesting module enabled within your license, here’s how to turn it on:
- Go to your Processing Station settings and set the Optimizer Type to Beta.
- Then, go to the Nest tab and switch the optimizer to True Shape Nesting.
Remember, this is a beta release, so use it at your own discretion. If you decide to use it, we’d love to hear your feedback. Share your feedback here in the Community. And if you run into any issues, open a support case so our team can take a look.
More notes...
- Machining, in some cases, has been observed extending beyond the part border too far. This could result in machining (routes) extending into other parts in the sheet. This is a reported issue and we're on it.
- Part-in-part optimization is not yet enabled. This feature is still in development and will be available in a future update.
- Legacy optimizers use a fixed mathematical formula to arrange parts on a sheet. Given the same input, material, and settings, they will generally produce the same result every time.
- Beta optimizers use a genetic algorithm that mimics natural selection. They evaluate multiple layouts, learn from the best results, and continuously improve. Because of this approach, results can vary from run to run and often become more efficient the longer the optimizer runs.
- Multi-run Optimization is a new feature designed to let the optimizer run multiple times, giving it more chances to find a better layout. Enabling this option increases processing time but may reduce the number of sheets used. You can find this setting under the Nest tab in the Processing Station. To use it, check Enable Multi-run Optimization, then enter the number of runs and the timeout duration. We don’t expect you to use this for every project, but we’d appreciate your feedback if you decide to try it out.
That’s all for now. Looking forward to your feedback!
