Under Panel Led Strip Lighting

So I have a job with some Under Panels with led strip lighting. I fill out the required field in product prompts (Picture 1) so that my led light chase is 18.1mm wide and 11.3mm deep, cut it on the CNC and I get 17.3mm wide and 7mm deep, (Picture 2) ????? (I wonder).
Investigating I find that in the subassembly there is also the ability to set width and depth of the led light chase (Picture 3), which seem to override the product prompt fields (Picture 1).
My question is what is the purpose of the prompt field.
