Understanding Machine Points
Hello,
I have a custom countertop product that someone designed for us and it works well but now I am trying to add banding to the edges of the splashes to identify them correctly. The problem is that when I assign the banding to the part as it appears in the product it ends up backward at the router. The lefts are rights and the rights are left as well as the backsplash short edges on finished ends are reversed. I want the face down when it gets to the router and the label is placed on the back side.
My question is can I just change the machine point to accomplish this? As an example; the left side splash has a base point of 2 (lower back outside) and the machine point is 5 (inside top front). Can I just change it's machine point to a 6? Will this change the part face? Would changing the machine point present any other problems in the future? And what about the mirroring of the points?
Thank you for any responses.
