Given the impact of this spreadsheet parser change, the documentation required to identify and correct invalid formulas should be posted directly with this announcement.
I requested the FIND and REPLACE documentation from Support yesterday and have not received a response. At the moment, support appears to be unresponsive, which makes directing users to “contact Support” impractical.
Considering this change will affect custom libraries beyond the Standard Foundation Library, it would be reasonable for the full correction guidance and strings to be made publicly available here so users can proactively review their data.
Has anyone else seen this update yet, or received the documentation from Support?
"Special Note: Upcoming Software Update and Impact on Spreadsheet Formulas
Following the release of this update, a Microvellum software update will be made available that includes an upgraded spreadsheet control. This new control uses a stricter, Excel-compatible formula parser.
As a result, certain formulas that were previously accepted may now generate syntax errors if not written correctly. In earlier versions, the workbook component would often “swallow” these errors without notifying the user. The new parser will no longer allow this behavior.
Because of this stricter validation environment, an extensive review of all workbooks within the Foundation Library was conducted, which identified several products and subassemblies containing formulas that are now considered invalid. All identified instances have been corrected in this release.
However, we recognize that not all users are able to immediately update their library.
For this reason, we strongly recommend proactively reviewing your own library data to identify and correct any invalid formulas that may exist.
