Vector polyline help

I'm struggling with adding 2d plan tokens that follow the shape of a part. For example, a mitered front or back edge of an end panel. I can most likely figure it out by adding the lines and a bunch of if/and/or statements looking at various prompts, but that seems more complicated than it needs to be.

Figuring out the vectors is not my thing.

Any guru advice?
