Weird hatching issue

I've got this really weird issue where when I go into a block and copy the hatching it is unassociated so the stretching doesn't stretch it even if I modify my selection set. I kept getting an error when I tried to select "yes" to associate it in the properties. So I found the way around this was to just add a new hatch and modify the selection set again. It worked great on the first one, the second hatch (same style & everything) I tried to do on the same block for whatever reason keeps unassociating itself. I've tried having HPASSOC command to 1 before adding the new hatch but that had the same results. I thought at first it could be the geometry because when I go back into the block to look at the unassociated hatch, it has extra snap points. I couldn't really figure out why it would be doing this......I also tried copying the associated hatch that I got to work but that didn't work either. I finally got it to work by just doing the hatch on both areas at the same time since they are the same anyways and it worked. My question is, is this something that can be changed in the 2024 AutoCAD or does it have to be this way in order to stretch correctly? Seems like an underlying programming problem
