Copying, Renaming, and Deleting Project Specification Group Collections

This article summarizes working with Specification Group Collections.

For a summary of the Project Specification Group Interface, see:

For a summary of working within the Project Wizard, Global Variables, Material Files, and Door Wizard Interfaces, see:

For a summary of Specification Group Components, see:

To copy a specification group collection, select the collection (note the green check mark and click on the Copy icon (or right-click and choose Copy Specification Group). At the following window, you will need to give the specification group a new name and select which components you want copied and enter a new name for those as well.

Info Info
The newly copied components will be automatically assigned to the new specification group.

Launch Find and Replace will search the material files and replace the searched value with a new string (applies to material descriptions only).

When using the Find and Replace function, you will want to be as specific as possible. The function will find all occurrences of the value regardless of where they may appear. For example, finding “pl” and replacing it with “plam” would also find and replace the same text in words like plywood, applied, maple, etc. and then return plamywood, applamied, maplame, etc.

To rename a specification group collection, select the collection and click the Rename icon (or right-click and choose Rename Specification Group).

To delete a specification group collection, select the collection, and click the Delete icon (or right-click and choose Delete Specification Group).

Info
Any components that were being used by that specification group collection will not be deleted. Any components that were not shared with another collection will now show as unused components (orange text).
