Microvellum Projects and Drawings Grid View


The interface for managing Microvellum projects and drawings has 3 views and formats of the projects management UI to select from: simple (a straightforward vertical list), the default Tree view (visit this article for more information on that), and the newest option, the Grid view. The Grid view offers several options to enhance the ease-of-access to projects and drawings, allowing users to edit the attributes of their projects and drawings without needing to open multiple different interfaces. 

Enabling Grid View

 
The grid view is not the default view option for the project viewer. To enable it, open Microvellum Settings > Options > General > Project Viewer Type > Grid. After selecting Grid, close the Options interface and click on the Projects menu from the Microvellum palette.  

Grid View Structure

 
When the projects menu is open in grid view, the following options are available for use in the menu:
  1. Category Column: This column allows you to sort and assign a specific category to the selected project instantly. 
  2. Project Name Column: This column tracks the name of each respective project. The linked arrow icon next to the name will instantly open the project within the software, while the dwg icon immediately moves one to the rooms/drawing controls of that specific project. 
  3. Status Column: This column allows one to control the status of the project. The only available options by default are active, inactive, and none, with none being projects that have no status assigned to them. 
  4. Assigned To Column: This column lists the employee that the project is assigned to and allows one to change which employee that currently is. 
  5. Created Date Column: Lists the date and time that the project was created. 
  6. Modified Time Column: Lists the most recent date and time that the project was modified or last altered. 
  7. Project Name Search: Type the name of any individual project into this search bar to locate it and bring it up in the interface. 
  8. Categories Filter: This filter drop-down menu allows you to display only projects that are within a specific category.
  9. Status Filter: This drop-down menu allows you to display only projects that with a specific status (active, inactive, none).
  10. Assignees Filter: This drop-down filter menu allows you to filter for projects only assigned to a specific employee. 
  11. Hide Inactive: A checkbox that, when enabled, will hide any projects marked as inactive from the interface. 
  12. Statuses/Categories: These buttons allow one to manage the different categories and statuses of projects within the software, and create new ones, if desired. 
  13. Employees: This button opens the Employees menu from the Company Setup tab, allowing one to add, remove, and manage the employees within one’s Microvellum setup. 
  14. Project Controls/Recent Projects: Multiple convenient options for viewing and editing project. You can create a new project, change the name of the existing selected project, copy the selected project, or delete all projects currently selected (you can select multiple projects by pressing SHIFT and clicking them in the menu). Recent projects allows you to instantly select from and open the most recently modified projects. 
  15. Rooms: This button takes one to the rooms/drawing management interface associated with the currently selected project. 

Rooms

 
The Rooms interface can be accessed from the project menu instantly, removing the need to click the ‘Open Room’ option in the Microvellum palette. Users can now see the full range of information about their rooms and the projects those rooms are linked to. The same general layout of the interface carries over from the Projects interface (filters, statuses, employees, etc.), with two additional columns in the grid:
  1. Open: This column displays simple checkboxes that indicate whether the selected drawing is currently open or not. To open a drawing, click the checkbox from this column and select “Open” from the bottom of the interface. 
  2. Current: This column displays a fillable bubble that indicates whether the selected drawing is the tab currently open in model space. 

Additionally, on the righthand side of the interface, users can also interact with a new Preview feature. The Preview feature displays images associated with the drawing in question, either in the form of an automatic thumbnail selected by the software (usually capturing the products within the drawing), or custom image files that can be manually selected, allowing users to add their own relevant content to display when the drawing is accessed (such as renders, flatshots, concepts, etc.)
