Microvellum Release Notes | Build 26.1.0520.641

Microvellum Release Notes | Build 26.1.0520.641

The following release notes apply to Microvellum build 26.1.0520.641.

Assign Render Material

  1. A new option has been added to the Library Specification Groups interface: Assign Render Material. This new interface displays the Microvellum material texture library alongside one’s material file, allowing users to easily and seamlessly assign different material textures to different parts of specific materials in their file. For more information on this feature, visit the following article.

Escape Measurement

  1. An improvement to measuring products has been applied to Product Prompts. Previously, users were able to measure a product’s dimensions by double clicking on the dimension field in the Product Prompts UI, but were unable to cancel this command, even if done erroneously. Moreover, if the incorrect measurement is applied (such as in the case of having activated this accidentally and thus clicking on a random spot), the original measurement is lost. This improvement allows users to cancel the command using the ESC key (as is the case with all commands) at any point, retaining the current value if the command is cancelled.

Colored Formula Parentheses

  1. An improvement has been made to the formula editor in Edit Design Data: formula parentheses will now display different colors to indicate which parts of the formula interact.

Format Formula Text

  1. Another improvement has been applied to the formula editor in Edit Design Data. A “Format Text” button has been added to the interface to allow users to change the formatting of their formula text between the base, existing style and programming style text. This button only changes the formatting and style of the text, it does not apply any other alterations or modifications to it.

Room Name Fix

  1. An issue was reported with the “Draw All Products in Category” option in the Draw tab. After the command was used to draw products in a room, some users found that the room name would fail to appear in the Product Viewer. This issue has been resolved, room names should now appear correctly.

Product Placement Fix

  1. Users reported an issue with products being placed incorrectly in BSB. Specifically, when placing a cabinet against a wall with a polyline drawn perpendicular to the wall, using the polyline as a placement anchor would result in the product being placed in the incorrect location, not set against either the wall or on the polyline. This issue has been resolved; products should now be placed correctly along a selected line.

Pocketing Tool Fix

  1. A machining issue would sometimes occur with pocketing route lines. Some users found that their pocketing routes would collide with regional boundaries (or other routes) after their tools were set to a specific diameter. This issue has been resolved, pocketing routes should no longer collide with 2D boundaries.

Hardware Report Fix

  1. When compiling hardware reports for work orders, some users found that the reports displayed incorrect values for the quantity of hardware attached to buyout materials. This issue has been resolved, and the correct quantity should now display.

Find and Replace Fix

Issues were reported centered around the Find and Replace feature in Workbook Designer. All the following issues have been resolved:
  1. It is expected that this feature will allow users to find the names of materials in the workbook material without issue. This was found not to be the case for some users, with the Find and Replace feature not returning any results when searching.
  2. The Find and Replace feature is expected to be able to replace the name of any non-formula driven material in the workbook. However, some users found that the replacements they made either failed to register or would not be saved after being applied.
  3. Some users reported that this feature was failing to apply changes to their material names, instead received a pop-up alert informing them that a material with the same name already existed in the workbook.

Product Copy Fix

  1. Some users reported an issue wherein a copy of their product’s 3D model would appear when working within the software and redrawing products with multiple interfaces open. This model would oftentimes be generated within the actual Microvellum 3D model, causing issues when attempting to move or modify the product. This issue has been resolved, and this additional shell model should no longer appear in drawings.

Draw Products Fix

Multiple issues involving product drawing have been resolved:
  1.  It is expected that the Draw tab of the Microvellum Palette will do nothing when clicked unless a project is open. It was reported that this was not the case, however, with some users finding that clicking the tab without a project open would result in the software beginning to collect and load moldings.
  2. There was an issue wherein the “Draw Selected Product in New Drawing” option would not appear when selecting products in the Product Viewer.
  3. Some users reported issues of lag or failure to load product groups when opening Microvellum, requiring one to switch away and re-click several times.

Options Lag Fix

  1. Users reported lag when attempting to open specific interfaces, such as the Microvellum Options or Tool File UI. This issue was especially problematic when attempting to open imported tool files. This issue has been resolved, and loading times should generally be faster when opening either interface.

Product List Fix

  1. Users reported an issue that would prevent them from opening the Product List. When attempting to do so, they would receive an unhandled exception error. This would also cause the project currently open to be misidentified as the template. This issue has been resolved, and should no longer occur.

Formula Editor Fixes

Numerous reported issues centered on the formula editor have been resolved:
  1. The Apply Formula button within the Edit Material interface would sometimes disappear during editing.
  2. The formulas applied would sometimes not be saved correctly, instead disappearing after exiting the Edit Formula interface.
  3.  Some users found that certain cells within workbooks were unable to be edited normally, only being able to change using the Formula Editor upon being clicked, even if the edits involved were not related to formulas.
  4. Redundant and unnecessary options and buttons within the formula editor have been removed.
  5. An issue was reported when editing functions- editing a function should ordinarily maintain the existing formula and change only the specific parts of the formula that were modified. Some users reported that after modifying a function, however, the formula would simply duplicate within the cell, breaking it.

Item Number Fix

  1. An issue was reported regarding item numbers. When a product is drawn, then its scale is changed afterwards, it is expected that the item numbers will scale appropriately with their block’s size. Some users found this was not the case, with the item numbers remaining the same size regardless of the product or block scale, leading to item numbers appearing on the incorrect face or being difficult to read within the product drawings. This issue has been resolved, and numbers should now scale correctly with their blocks.
