Recommended System Requirements for Microvellum
Microvellum runs on either BricsCAD or AutoCAD. System requirements vary slightly depending on which CAD platform you use. To ensure the best performance, we recommend the following:

Supported Operating Systems
- Windows 10
- Windows 11
Processor (CPU)
- Minimum: Intel Core i5 or AMD Ryzen 5
- Recommended: Intel Core i7 / i9 or AMD Ryzen 7 / 9
Additional Notes:
- Prioritize high single-thread performance.
- More cores improve rendering and heavy multithreaded tasks.
- Workstation CPUs (Intel Xeon, AMD Threadripper) are best for large or complex projects.
Memory (RAM)
- Minimum: 16 GB
- Recommended: 32 GB or more
- Use multi-channel memory (at least one module per channel) for improved performance.
Storage
- Minimum: ~4 GB for Microvellum installation
- Recommended: SSD (SATA III or PCI-E NVMe) for system and software
- HDDs may be used for non-critical data storage
Display & Graphics
- Minimum: Full HD (1920×1080) True Color display with a graphics card that has 4 GB VRAM
- Recommended: Dual displays with a dedicated GPU that has 8 GB VRAM
Additional Notes:
- Mid-range gaming GPUs (NVIDIA GeForce, AMD Radeon) are recommended.
- Always install the latest drivers.
- For large models, parametric assemblies, or point clouds, enable High Performance graphics.
- CAD Platform Considerations
BricsCAD V25
- Uses the same hardware requirements listed above.
- Optimized for modern GPUs and multi-core CPUs.
AutoCAD (2024 /2025/2026)
- Minimum requirements are generally lower, but performance gains are noticeable with higher-end CPUs and GPUs.
- Autodesk recommends 16 GB RAM and 8 GB VRAM for 3D modeling.
- Network licensing may require additional configuration.
For the best experience with either platform, we recommend:
- Windows 11, Intel i7 or AMD Ryzen 7, 16 GB+ RAM, SSD hard drive, and an 8 GB+ GPU with dual displays.
