1.000.000 objects in a drawing

Hi guys,


my new collegue made a drawing, which somehow has 1.000.000 objects when I audit.
It's horrendously slow, but I can't see how or why there are 1.000.000 objects. 
I tried purging, but to no avail.
Any clues or tips?
