File Structure for bigger projects?

Say I have 100 rooms on a project . Is it better to create a file for each room , or maybe 4 files with 25 rooms(per area)?
One thing I would also like to do is to be able to "hide" rooms that have already been processed. Another issue I seem to have is data "moving" ,like drawing a product here and it moves there with a redraw, or the drawing lagging with multiple elevations in one drawing.  Whats a efficient way to look at this?
