Important Update Regarding Production (MicroManager)

We want to share an important update regarding the Production application (also known as MicroManager).
After careful consideration, Production is transitioning to maintenance-only status.
Effective immediately:
  1. No new Production licenses will be sold.
  1. Existing Production licenses may continue to be activated.
  1. Production will continue to function as it does today.
  1. Development has ended.
  1. No future bug fixes or feature enhancements will be released.
  1. Version-aligned updates will continue to be provided through the Microvellum Portal to maintain compatibility with Microvellum (Toolbox).

Why We’re Making This Change

Over time, Microvellum has evolved significantly, with the majority of customers standardizing on Microvellum BSB/AC (Toolbox) as their core design, engineering, and manufacturing platform.
Production (MicroManager) is a separate, aging application that would require substantial architectural redevelopment to continue advancing. Rather than divide engineering and QA efforts across multiple platforms, we have made the strategic decision to align our development focus behind one core product: Microvellum BSB/AC.
By concentrating on a single primary platform, we are able to:
  1. Focus development investment where most customers operate.
  1. Improve quality assurance and stability.
  1. Accelerate meaningful product enhancements.
  1. Reduce long-term platform complexity.
This provides a clearer, more sustainable path forward.

Shop-Floor Tools Remain Available

We recognize that many customers rely on shop-floor tools such as label printing, reports, work order processing, optimization review, and processing station management.
To support these workflows, we introduced the standalone Processing Center application.

The standalone Processing Center uses the same core logic and processing engine as the integrated Processing Center used daily within Microvellum BSB/AC. It simply provides access to these manufacturing tools outside of the primary CAD environment in a streamlined, purpose-built application.

This approach allows us to modernize shop-floor workflows while retiring legacy ERP-related functionality and aging architecture contained within Production.

Important Functional Clarification

Production historically included broader project-level and engineering capabilities, including:
  1. Creating and managing projects.
  1. Adding products to projects.
  1. Access to Edit Design Data.
  1. Global Variables.
  1. Material Files.
  1. Part Properties.
  1. Work order creation.
The standalone Processing Center does not include these project creation or engineering functions.
If your workflow requires these broader capabilities, the path forward is to add a Microvellum BSB/AC license, which is now the primary platform for project setup, drafting/drawing, engineering, and manufacturing control.

Transitioning from Production to Processing Center

If you would like to transition your Production license to Processing Center:
  1. Create a Support Case through the Microvellum Portal
  2. Select the case type Software Management.
  3. Include in the case title: “Request to Swap Production for Processing Center.”
Our support team will assist you in trading out your licenses by:
  1. Suspending your Production licenses.
  2. Activating your Processing Center licensing within the Microvellum Portal.
We are committed to making this transition straightforward and supported.

What This Means for You

If you are currently using Production, there is no immediate disruption to your workflow. Your existing licenses will continue to operate as they do today.
Production will remain available for activation and use; however, it will not receive further development or maintenance beyond version compatibility updates.
Our goal is to provide clarity, stability, and a focused path forward for the Microvellum platform.
If you have questions about your workflow, licensing, or transition planning, our team is here to help.
