Drawing Sections

To draw sections of products, click on the Draw Product Sections icon and select a product.

The Product Sections window will allow you to select which type of section to draw and set up specific options for how the section will be drawn.

  1. Section Type – Allows you to choose which type of section to draw. It also contains the option to pick a cutting plane (a line drawn through a product used for locating where the section will cut).
    1. Cross Section - When you select the cross-section option, you are going to draw a section that cuts through the product in the Z and Y planes on the UCS. From the Product Section window, you can specify a distance in the X-axis from the left side of the product to generate the cutting plane.

    3. Plan Section - When you select the plan section option, you are going to draw a section that cuts through the product in the X and Y plane of the UCS. From the Product Section window, you can specify a distance in Z-axis from the bottom of the product to generate the cutting plane.

    5. Elevational Section - When you select the elevational section option, you are going to draw a section that cuts through the product in the Z and X plane of the UCS. From the Product Section window, you can specify a distance in Y-axis from the back of the product, with a navigate value moving the cutting plane towards the front of the product to generate the cutting plane.

  2. Other Options – Allows you to control supplemental drawing instructions. Supplemental drawing instructions include dimensions, hardware, notes, or other objects.
  3. Cross Section Draw Direction – Allows you to select to draw the section facing left or facing right.
  4. Distance in X From Product Origin to Cutting Plane – Allows you to enter a value instead of selecting a line for a cutting plane. This value has a default setting of 1/4" less than half of the product width.
