Microvellum Product Libraries

Product Libraries

Microvellum product libraries are digital collections of data, graphics, and information that allow for the creation, storage, and cultivation of client products. A product library has hundreds of built-in spreadsheets (workbooks) that contain variables, prompts, products, subassemblies, and more; all data which serves to help streamline the process of creating custom-engineered & manufacture-ready solutions. It also contains thousands of 3D graphics for product viewing, branded hardware, adaptable settings, as well as a selection of starter products, intended to be modified and altered into one's own custom cabinetry (essentially, prefabs that exist to aid in the creation of a custom catalog of products). At the time of writing, Microvellum has historically had 3 major product libraries: The Foundation Library, the Premium Cabinet Library, and the Component Cabinet Library.

Foundation Library

  1. Microvellum’s Foundation Library is the most recent and currently supported product library available to new and existing clients, released in 2021. The Foundation Library is a new product library with an assortment of new products, data, and features, as well as products, subassemblies, prompts, and more, carrying over the most essential features from the two legacy libraries.
  1. The Foundation Library is a universal (international) product library that comes with not only base products, but numerous built-in “Master” cabinet products: products created to meet the standards of a specific type of cabinet, then be customized with a wide range of subassemblies, prompts, and hardware into a new product that can be saved back to the library, allowing for custom product creation to progress at a much faster pace.
  1. Relative to previous product libraries, the Foundation Library offers the ability to select one's region, setting parameters such as available buyout hardware, localized construction variables, and subassemblies present in one's library data. The current available regions are, at the time of writing, AU, NZ, CA, US, and UK.
  1. This library offers both Imperial and Metric installations, with the fundamental data structure being identical regardless of one’s region or unit, enabling users to flexibly share their projects, products, and data with one another without concern of incompatibility. This also allows for future products and features to be developed with greater ease by Microvellum’s Library Development team, documentation created on Microvellum's Knowledge Network to be usable unilaterally across international markets, as well as offering a more simplified, streamlined approach to customizing your design-to-manufacturing workflow.

Legacy Libraries

Premium Cabinet Library

  1. The Premium Cabinet Library is a legacy library that was specifically designed for use by clients based in Australia/New Zealand, with a standard dataset that was designed to reflect the standard practices of those regions, including the use of Metric units in all aspects of product creation.
  1. The library also used vocabulary specific to its localized region (such as the use of the term “benchtop” vs “countertop”) coded into its products. The fundamental structure of the library was specifically developed by a library development team based in Australia.
  1. The Premium Cabinet library contained an extensive catalog of hardware, appliances, a selection of rendering materials, product styles/details, and buyout material options that were specific to the AU/NZ market, such as Laminex, Polytec, ThermoTec, etc.
  1. The Premium Cabinet library has been considered a legacy library since August of 2020, when the last update for the library was released, build 20_1_3. As a legacy library, the Premium Cabinet library no longer receives support (maintenance and updates), and documentation on the library is no longer produced.

Component Cabinet Library

  1. The Component Cabinet Library (and its predecessor, the Advanced Frameless Library) is a legacy product library specifically designed for use by clients based in North America and the UK, with the dataset fundamentally being based on the manufacturing standards and preferences to clients in the US/Canada/UK, as well as using products and hardware specific to those specific markets. The library had configurations for both Metric and Imperial units.
  1. The Component Cabinet library was developed by a team based in North America, with localized terminology, product options, and a template that was reflective of client preferences in its target regions.
  1. Support (maintenance and updates) for the Component Cabinet Library ended in late 2020, with the final build released being version 50.7. The library is now considered a “legacy” library, with no intended plan for future support or documentation by Microvellum.
