Modifying Polylines

Stretch a Segment

You can select a grip to make changes directly.
  1. Select the polyline to display its grips.
  2. Select a grip and drag it to the new location.

Several options become available when you select a polyline and hover over the grips.



Add a Vertex

  1. Select the polyline to display its grips.
  2. Hover over the vertex grip until the menu displays.
  3. Click Add Vertex.


Remove a Vertex

  1. Select the polyline to display its grips.
  2. Hover over the vertex grip until the menu displays.
  3. Click Remove Vertex.

Convert a Line Segment to an Arc Segment

  1. Select the polyline to display its grips.
  2. Hover over the grip in the middle of the line segment you want to convert.
  3. Click Convert to Arc.



      4. Specify the arc midpoint.


Convert an Arc Segment to a Line Segment

  1. Select the polyline to display its grips.
  2. Hover over the grip in the middle of the arc.
  3. Click Convert to Line.


Change the Polyline Width

Click Home tab/Modify panel/Edit Polyline.   (Find)
Select the polyline to modify.
Enter w (Width) to specify a new uniform width for the entire polyline.
Enter the width for all segments.

Change the Width of Individual Segments

  1. Click Home tab/Modify panel/Edit Polyline.   (Find)
  2. Select the polyline to modify.
  3. Enter e (Edit Vertex).
    1. The first vertex is marked with an X. Move to the appropriate vertex with Next or Previous.
  4. Enter w (Width).
  5. Enter the starting and ending widths.


       6. Press Enter to move to the next vertex or x to stop editing the vertex.

Convert to a Spline-Fit Polyline

  1. Select the polyline to display its grips.
  2. Right-click and select Polyline  Spline Fit.


Convert to a Curve-Fit Polyline

  1. Select the polyline to display its grips.
  2. Right-click and select Polyline  Curve Fit.


Remove the Curve on a Spline-Fit or Curve-Fit Polyline

  1. Select the polyline to display its grips.
  2. Right-click and select Polyline  Decurve.
