Using Barcode Fonts "3 of 9" and "Code 128b" in Microvellum (Tutorial)

This is a tutorial explaining how to use the Code 128b barcode font and how to install and use the 3 of 9 barcode font in Microvellum reports.  

Using Code 128b

You do not need to install Code 128b on your machine as the Microvellum Report Designer contains a Code 128b Barcode Component that contains the font. Here is the general procedure to follow when using the Code 128b component in a report.

  1. Open your report in the Report Designer and click on the tab for the page that will include the barcode component.
  2. Click the toolstrip command for Component, select Bar Code, and draw the component on the report.

  3. Select Code 128b and click OK.

  4. Make sure the new barcode component is selected and click the small ellipsis button in the Code property of that component.

  5. Enter the field you want to be displayed as the barcode. The figure below gives a sample field.

Installing & Using Code 39 (3 of 9)

Before using Code 39, you must install it on your system.

  1. Open Windows Explorer and navigate to the folder at:
    C:\Program Files\Microvellum\Fonts Folder\
  2. Right-click the file named “3of9.TTF” and select “Install for All Users.”
  3. Open your report in the Report Designer and add a text component.
  4. Set the Font property of the component to use “3 of 9 Barcode.”
  5. Enter the field in the text component that you want to display as the barcode.

Your barcode string should now be displayed on the report in the “3 of 9 Barcode” font. If it does not, press the Windows key and enter Fonts in the search bar. Open the Font Settings app and make sure the 3 of 9 Barcode font is displayed in the list of installed fonts. If it is not, repeat steps #1 & #2 above in the section “Installing & Using Code 39.”
