CAD/CAM Initiatives

AI-Assisted Formula Editor
Creating and troubleshooting formulas can be time-consuming, especially as they become more complex.
We’re introducing AI-assisted tools to help you:
  1. Build formulas faster
  2. Fix errors more easily
  3. Understand existing logic
This reduces the learning curve and speeds up engineering work.

Integrated AI Support
Finding answers inside Microvellum can take time and often requires submitting a support case.
We’re adding an in-app AI assistant that lets you:
  1. Ask questions and get immediate answers
  2. Get help without leaving your workflow
  3. Create support cases more easily when needed

SpreadsheetGear Upgrade (Formula Engine)
We’re upgrading the underlying engine that powers formulas and spreadsheets in Microvellum.
This is important because:
The new version is more stable and modern
  1. It enforces stricter rules for formulas
  2. In older versions, incomplete formulas were often allowed. The new version does not allow that, which means some existing data may cause issues if not corrected.
To handle this safely, we’re taking a phased approach:
  1. A utility will be released to scan and fix formulas in your library
  2. Then, by June 2026, once most customers have cleaned up their data, we will release the upgraded engine
This approach helps prevent crashes and avoids disruption during the transition.

Microvellum BSB 2026
We’re releasing a new version of Microvellum for BricsCAD Pro 2026.
  1. Includes the latest features and improvements
  2. Release timing depends on the official BricsCAD build

Support for AutoCAD 2027
We’re adding support for AutoCAD 2027 to keep your workflow current.
  1. New compatible installation
  2. Support for AutoCAD 2024 will be discontinued

Dark Mode
We’re adding light and dark themes across the interface.
  1. Reduces eye strain
  2. Modernized look and feel of Microvellum

Adaptive Nesting
Choosing between block nesting and true shape nesting to evaluate which produces better results can be time-consuming.
Adaptive Nesting solves this by:
  1. Running both methods automatically
  2. Selecting the best result based on material yield
  3. This removes guesswork and improves material efficiency.

Printable Annotations in Composite Nest Drawings
Comments added during engineering need to visible in reports used on the shop floor.
We’re fixing this by:
  1. Preserving annotations in composite nest drawings
  2. Carrying them through to printed reports
  3. This ensures important information is not lost between engineering and production.

Syntax Highlighting for Formulas
Formulas will be easier to read and troubleshoot with:
  1. Visual differentiation of variables, functions, and operators
  2. Escape to Cancel Measure Tool
  3. You’ll be able to cancel the Measure Two Points command at any time, giving you more control when working in drawings.

Cancel Work Order Processing
If processing has already started, you’ll now be able to stop it after optimization is complete.
This allows you to:
  1. Make changes without waiting unnecessarily
  2. Avoid restarting entire workflows

Project & Drawing Management
We’re simplifying how projects and drawings are created and managed.
Improvements include:
  1. Fewer clicks and more guided workflows
  2. Better visibility into project status
  3. Ability to assign people to projects and drawings
  4. Option to hide inactive projects
This makes it easier for both new and experienced users to stay organized and efficient.

Machine Token Workflow Improvements
Adding machine tokens currently requires switching between multiple areas.
We’re improving this by:
  1. Allowing access to Part Properties directly from Edit Design Data
  2. Keeping everything in one place
  3. This reduces friction and speeds up engineering tasks.

Separator Bars in Prompts
We’re adding another tool to help organize your product prompts by introducing separator bars.
This allows you to:
  1. Group related inputs clearly
  2. Reduce reliance on color for structure

Time Tracking with INNERGY
Time spent drafting and engineering is often not tracked, limiting visibility into project effort.
We’re adding:
  1. Time tracking at the drawing level
  2. Automatic roll-up to the project level
  3. Sync with INNERGY for better reporting
This provides clearer insight into labor and project performance.

Product Library Initiatives

Rules-Based Parametric Die Wall
Designing complex die walls can be time-consuming and inconsistent, especially without a standardized approach.
We’re introducing a new rules-based die wall product that:
  1. Aligns with existing fixture-style products
  2. Uses parametric logic to drive design
  3. Improves consistency across projects
This makes it easier to design, modify, and standardize complex millwork.

Expanded Cooktop Appliance Options
The current library has limited cooktop appliance options.
We’re expanding this by adding:
  1. More appliance choices
  2. Improved 3D representations
  3. Configurable prompts for easier customization
This gives you more flexibility when designing kitchens and other projects.

Shelf Clip Automation (Lookup Table)
Changing shelf clips currently requires multiple manual adjustments, since each type has different spacing and drilling requirements.
We’re simplifying this with a centralized lookup table that:
  1. Stores common shelf clip options
  2. Automatically controls shelf gaps and drilling sizes
  3. Can trigger related changes (like shelf standards) when needed
This reduces manual setup and helps ensure accuracy.

Ongoing Hardware Expansion
Keeping hardware up to date across regions is an ongoing effort.
Each quarter, we focus on the most requested items. In Q2, this includes:
  1. New and updated hardware systems
  2. Example: Halliday drawer system (Australia)
This ensures your designs stay aligned with real-world products and availability.

Expanded Library Documentation
Some areas of the library can be difficult to understand without clear guidance.
We’re continuing to improve documentation by adding:
  1. Written explanations
  2. Supporting videos
  3. Clear intent behind how features are designed to be used
This helps both new and experienced users work more confidently.

Visual Help for Variables & Prompts
Global Variables and prompts can be hard to interpret without context.
We’re adding visual help content to:
  1. Show what variables control
  2. Provide clearer guidance when making changes
This makes the library easier to navigate and reduces trial and error.

Continued Library Refinements
Improving the library is an ongoing process.
We’re continuing to:
  1. Refine 2D drawing output
  2. Improve clarity and consistency
  3. Incorporate user feedback into updates
These incremental improvements make everyday drafting and engineering more efficient.
