Project Factory Workbooks
Starting with Microvellum Toolbox build 24.1.0207.641, clients can create a project-level F! (Factory) Workbook. This feature allows for exporting the F! Workbook with the project, updating its content during library updates, and making changes without affecting the entire library. Administrators can also set permissions to secure the Factory Workbook. These settings are available in Company Setup and Project Properties.
Allow Project Factory Workbook
- To restrict access to an employee's ability to access the Factory Workbook, one need only open the Company Setup, Employees (Secure Information), then select an employee, right-click and select "Set Employee Permissions".
- With the administrative settings UI open in the software, scroll under the “Projects” section, and click: “Allow Project Factory Workbook”, which specifically allows one to access the Project Factory settings in the Project Properties.
- An employee that does not have this setting enabled will find the option has been greyed out, ensuring that security for one's data is restricted to only employees that specifically require access to the factory workbook, ideally minimizing the chance for any inadvertent or permanent changes to one's F! Workbook data.
- At any time, an administrator is capable of changing the access available to specific employees.
Project Factory Settings
- Options under the Project Factory Settings allow for the creation and management of one's Factory Workbook(s):
- Enable Project Factory: Allows users to enable/disable the Project Factory Workbook. If a Project Factory Workbook does not exist, the default Factory Workbook is cloned.
- Delete Project Factory: Deletes the Project Factory Workbook, even if it is currently disabled.
- Clone Default Factory: Clones the default Factory Workbook over the current Project Factory Workbook.
- Overwrite Default Factory: Overwrites the default Factory Workbook with the Project Factory Workbook.
- All Project Factory Setting options prompt confirmation dialogs before allowing users to proceed with any of them, to ensure there are no unintentional changes to settings.
UI Changes
- When a Project Factory Workbook is enabled, the Work Order and Database UI's will display visible differences between projects, work orders, subassemblies, and more that are linked to the Project Factory Workbook and default F! Workbook.
- Work orders using a Project Factory Workbook can be processed simultaneously with a work order that utilizes the default Factory Workbook, with projects and products that are specifically tied to a Project Factory Workbook having red text, a legend placed on the bottom of the UI to distinguish the two.
- When running an update using the Library Update Utility or Database Management tools with a Project Factory Workbook enabled, there will be an additional section added to its selection, used for the purpose of allowing users to select whether the Factory Workbook components should be updated as well, the “Factory Components”.
- Components that are within the Project Factory Workbook will be listed with yellow text.
- Prior to the opening the update window, a pop-up will appear, warning that Project Factory Workbooks are updated with the rest of the template level materials.
