Toolbox BSB, being built on BricsCAD V25 Pro, has a built-in functionality that allows for the customization of one’s CUI and interface. One such customization you may want to utilize to tailor your workspace to your tastes is switching the UI to Light Mode. By default, BSB is set to dark mode, with most of the interface elements being set to use elements that are specific to that mode. To change from the default dark mode to light mode, simply click on the small menu settings icon in the top right corner of the interface, hover over the “Theme” section, and switch to light mode.

To resolve this issue, Microvellum has provided an alternative CUI that users can load when working in light mode.

Open the “Customize” interface (you can do this by typing “CUSTOMIZE” in the command bar, or by opening the “Tools” tab in the BricsCAD Toolbar, then selecting the “Customize” option at the bottom of the pop-up menu). When opening the interface, at the top of the menu, there is a field reading “Main Customization File”. Click on the three dots to the right of it. This will open the location in your software files that contain the various CUI’s Microvellum has packaged in the installation of your BSB software. Select the CUI file named “MV_Custom-ribbon Light Mode.cui” and open it. Then click “OK” in the Customization menu.

Adding custom Microvellum commands to the QUAD also requires accounting for which mode you intend to be working in. For more information on how to add a custom MV command to the QUAD, visit
our article on the QUAD.
When creating a new MV command and adding it to the QUAD interface, you will be prompted to select an image for your new command. Set the image to “bitmap”, then click the 3 dots next to the image field. This will open your explorer. Navigate to the file path of Program Files>Microvellum>Toolbox V25 (your version)>BSB>Assets. There are two folders labeled “Dark Mode” and “Light Mode”. These folders contain icons for Microvellum’s commands and are available for users to utilize when customizing their commands in interfaces like the QUAD.

If you are adding custom MV commands to your QUAD, it is recommended to remain in the default dark mode, as any changes to your display mode will require you to change the icons of any custom commands each time to be visible.
