Using Formula Editor

Using Formula Editor

The Formula Editor is a handy tool for reading and writing formulas. To access the Formula Editor, select a cell and press the F2 key.

  1. Large Text – Checking the box will make all the text larger.
  2. Find and Replace – Launches the find and replace.
  3. Name – Allows you to select a defined name from the Global Variables, Local Variables, Subassembly Variables, or AutoCAD Blocks.
  4. Function – Allows you to write a formula by selecting the type of function you wish to use. By highlighting a function within a formula, clicking the insert function button will break down the function allowing you to read and comprehend the formula easily.
  5. Apply Formula – Closes the formula editor and applies the formula.

When using the Function tool to write a formula, the following message will appear. Click OK to close the message.

Once the message has been closed, the Function Arguments window will be displayed.

This interface allows you to write formulas without having to worry about syntax. To start, select a function from the Function List, and then populate the required fields for the function. When all the fields have been entered, the Insert button will become active.

To use the Function tool to breakdown a formula, you must highlight the function before clicking the Function button.
