Understanding Work Orders

Work orders are used to send product information to the shop for manufacturing and assembly.

There are multiple ways to create work orders. The first option allows you to select the products to process from a tree view. The second option will enable you to select products from the current (open) room/drawing. The third option is done through the Product List. Through the Product List, you have the option to create a work order by selecting the products from the tree view, or you can create the work order from the entire list of products or a selection of products.
  1. The first option to create a work order can be accessed by clicking on the Create New Work Order icon under the Processing Tools of the tool strip in Toolbox.
  2. The second option can be accessed by clicking on the Create New Work Order from Drawing icon under the Processing Tools of the tool strip.
  3. To access the other options, open the Product List. The options are displayed at the top of the Product List interface.

Creating work orders through the Product List is the preferred method because there is more information available to ensure the products are accurate. The Product List displays the item number, product description, quantity, width, height, depth, comments, and specification group for the products. The other two options (selecting the products from the tree view or the drawing) only display the item number, product description, and quantity.
