Microvellum Release Notes | Build 25.2.0204.641
The following release notes apply to Microvellum build 25.2.0204.641.
- As part of Microvellum’s ongoing alignment with the values and catalog of INNERGY, and to improve user experience, clarity, and consistency, we have updated our terminology within the software and documentation. The brand name “Toolbox” is being retired, and Microvellum’s all-in-one CAD/CAM software platform will instead be referred to as “Microvellum."
Update Improvements
- Multiple redundant material hatch .pat files have been removed from the update process of the software. This will ideally prevent specific custom preferences from being overridden, as well as eliminate a handful of issues caused by these files.
Subassembly Fixes
A couple of issues concerning the functionality of subassemblies were reported and resolved. The issues are as follows:
Fig. 1: The name variables appearing in spite of the subassembly not being loaded.- When working with subassemblies in a product’s spreadsheet, it is expected that a subassembly needs to be loaded to edit variables like the subassembly name within the Edit Formula box. It was found that this was sometimes not the case, with some subassemblies not being loaded having no effect within the interface as to whether name variables would show.
Fig. 2: Two S workbooks appearing in Workbook Designer.- When opening workbook designer after editing subassemblies, it is expected that only the latest subassemblies accessed will appear in the interface. Instead, it was found that two or more S workbooks would sometimes erroneously appear in the interface.
- Both issues have been resolved. Altering subassemblies should no longer result in this issue of multiple S workbooks, and Subassembly variables should display correctly when the subassembly is not currently loaded.
Splash Screen Fixes
Multiple issues centered around the Microvellum splash screen login UI have been resolved. The following issues should no longer occur:
- Users would sometimes experience an error when switching between configurations on the splash screen. This would noticeably occur when switching between configurations with different login requirements.
Fig. 3: The incorrectly spelled "Sofware Build". - A grammatical correction has been applied to the software build section of the UI, which displays the current software build being run. The word “Sofware” has been replaced with the correct “Software”.
- When launching two instances of Microvellum software simultaneously, it is expected that they will both be capable of running separately (though this is not recommended). Instead, it was reported by some users that having the splash screen of both programs opened simultaneously would cause an error.
- An input issue with the login screen caused users to be unable to enter their password by hitting the Enter key, instead requiring them to use their mouse.
- The Update Available indicator on the splash screen had an issue wherein it would erroneously alert users of an update being available, even if there was none.
Report Groups Fix
- Users reported an issue wherein Microvellum BSB would experience errors and crashes while processing work order reports in a report group. This would only occur when a report group was assigned to the work order. This issue has been resolved and should no longer occur.
Hatch Pattern Fix
- When renaming a hatch pattern, it is expected that the software will register the pattern as missing and alert the user of this without issue. However, some users reported that when the hatch pattern name was changed, rather than being alerted, the software would crash. This issue has been resolved- the software should now instead only alert a user when a hatch is missing. Additionally, the alert message warning users that their hatch pattern is missing has been improved, increasing the specificity and clarity of which hatch is missing or causing the issue.
Drill Fixes
A pair of issues centered around drilling and the processing of drilling operations were resolved. The issues were:
- When processing drilling operations using specific values for vertical drills in one’s Toolfile, there was sometimes an error wherein the software would be unable to detect any drills capable of reaching the hole values, even if the drill’s maximum value should allow it to achieve that.
- When setting up a drilling operation, it was found that banking holes would sometimes fail during processing, with specific hole geometries. Banks with specific numbers of holes would sometimes drop one during processing.
Help Link Fix
- When opening the About Microvellum interface and attempting to create a support case (using the Create Support Case button), it was sometimes the case that the browser would open the page twice. This issue has been resolved. When creating a support case via the software interface, the page should only open a single time, as intended.
Batch Number Fix
- In the batch options of the processing station, it is expected when interacting with the + key of the interface that the batch number will increase accordingly with the number of times the + key is clicked. However, it was found that the button did not properly function in this regard, with the + key not increasing the batch’s name value as expected. This issue has been resolved- the + key should now increase the number of the batch name by integers of 1 (if there is a number in the batch name).
Associate Product to Wall Fix
Fig. 4: The error that appears when double clicking the option.- There was a reported issue with associating products to walls. When double-clicking the option to do so in the Modify tab, rather than giving the expected warning that the command line was still active, users would instead experience an invalid input error. This issue has been resolved. Users will now receive a warning that the command line is still active.
Nesting Fix
Fig. 5: The nesting error occurring with specific tool files.- Certain processing stations and tool files were reportedly having difficulty fully processing a work order. When trying to complete an operation using specific nesting tool files, it was sometimes the case that the operation would experience an error, causing the current batch to be deleted. This issue has been resolved; this error should no longer occur when processing work orders.
Product Prompt Fixes
A handful of issues surrounding product prompts were resolved with this build. The following issues should no longer occur:
- When copying a product with bays between rooms using the product viewer, it is expected that the product will update accordingly and correctly when being redrawn in the new room. However, it was found that products with bays would sometimes calculate incorrectly when redrawn.
- When working with product calculators in the spreadsheet, it is expected that the values of various calculators being left blank will not affect any associated calculators. Users reported an issue wherein having blank values in one calculator would cause the calculators after them chronologically to be unable to open.
- Product bay size would sometimes calculate incorrectly when altering specific dimensions of products. For instance, a product with bays would sometimes fail to recalculate the size of those bays accordingly when the width of the product was increased.
Fig. 6: The product angle prompt in the interface. - When working with prompts, it may sometimes be necessary or desired to control the angle of the product as it is placed on a wall. As such, products have a prompt to control product angle (ProductAngle), which can be added to the Product Prompts interface through modification. However, it was found that this prompt would sometimes not function correctly, with the product not filling in the angle correctly when this prompt is defined within the design data.
Post-Processor and Optimizer Decoupling
- The machine code post-processor and optimizer have been decoupled from Microvellum’s core codebase. This architectural update allows the post-processor and optimizer to operate independently, enabling integration with both Microvellum and INNERGY DESIGN in a disconnected state.
- This change improves modularity and long-term maintainability while providing greater flexibility for how machine code generation and optimization are deployed across platforms.
