Configuration Manager
At times it would be nice to have all the configuration information in one place, besides the registry. There are times when I am working, testing and trying different things between different databases on different servers and I find that at the moment the quickest is to work in the registry as I don't have to open and then reopen Acad/Mv as often. Removing Border Rout From Nest
I am trying to figure out the best way to remove the border route for parts going to the nested router. I just finished a project with 16 head-wall panels, all the same size but with each having about a dozen unique cutouts for electrical, med gas etc, no two panels were the same. Normally all our parts are nested at the router but because of the proximity of the cutouts to the panel edges I needed to cut the panels to size, edgeband, then machine the cutouts on the router. How do I change a product name based on whether a checkbox in the product prompts is checked?
I am adding a checkbox prompt called Island Base in all base cabinets. If it is checked, the bottom is made to equal the cabinet width, the bottom x origin is moved left by the amount of the side thickness, the sides height are reduced by the bottom thickness, and the sides z origin is increased by the bottom thickness. I would also like to append the product name with the word "Island". What kind of formula do I need, and where do I need to put it?
Print text and dimensions added to composite (nested) drawings on Nested Optimization Report
We find it necessary to add additional text to the composite drawings for operators and fabricators for misc parts; wall paneling, diewall ribs, plates, etc. Currently the Report will not show any of the newly added information and each view has to be plotted. It would be a huge time saver if there was a layer that we could add the required information to and print on the Nested Optimization Report!
Sawing optimizer optimizing each part on separate sheet.
After processing, somehow the sawing optimizer is optimizing each part on a separate sheet and giving me extra sheets than actually needed. For example, I have two doors in a product and optimizer is giving me those two doors on two separate sheets.

Re-opening solved tickets
Does anyone know how to reopen a ticked that was solved, but the problem reoccurred? I can't seem to figure out how to do it on this new support site. I asked a MV agent over the phone but he wasn't sure either. I knew how to do it on the old site. Replying to it doesn't seem to do anything, the status remains "solved" and I'm not sure if anyone is seeing the replies.
Accessing Database Explorer
Is there a way to access Database Explorer outside of Toolbox, or to direct it to load/explore a database other than the one currently loaded? Specifically, we are running library 44.1, but I also have library 50.5 installed as a separate database configuration to poke around and see some of the updates. Creating New Machining G-Code from Drawing in Single Part Editor
When I try to create a new machining G-Code from a drawing for a new work order, the first batch always gets an error saying "The path is not valid. Check the directory for the database...'". I click "OK" to the error message. The same error message pops up a couple of more times after clicking "OK" again. After 3 tries, it says the process is complete. Cut Part width and length different in label than in Nesting Optimization Report
We have an edgebander with premil, and we are trying to get setup with as much precision as possible so the cut size incorporates the banding thickness and the premill amount. While doing that, I used decimal units to get as much precision as possible. I notice the reported cut size on the label doesn't match the reported cut size on the Nesting Optimization report. I tried to go into report designer and figure out why there is such a difference, but that's pretty advanced for me and I was unable
Library Designer Product Selection Feature
It would be nice if the Library Designer would allow you to: 1) Check or Un-check a box in the Libraries Affected with a single, opposed to the click to selected product + click to check or un-check box. 2) To Check or Un-check all boxes in the Libraries Affected. Machining Updates
Today I am editing G-Code, again. We have a project with thousands of 1.5" holes is 1.5" hardwood. What I am doing is programming this with a step cut, first at .75 and then at -0.0050. The issue is that Microvellum has never figured out how to ramp from the first to second cut. No we have to raise the tool and start over for the second cut, this is a huge time waste. I have been trying to insert and attach images but i am not able too. I am not over the 40mb file limit. The last one i tried to upload was only 12kb. I am thinking it may be a file format issue. Anyone else having a problem or is this just me?
Removing an extra sheet of material from a nest
If I rearrange the parts of a nest to eliminate the need for a sheet of material I would like to find a way to remove it from the nest. Using UPDATE ALL NEST will leave the original program unchanged and the extra sheet of material in the summary.
Add WallOffset to Prompt Bar
You know how some products have "Height Above Floor" in the bar at the bottom of the prompts window? And you can add it to a product that doesn't already have it? There is another great feature called "Wall Offset". I would like it to be included on that bar too right next to "Height Above Floor". It would be nice if we could add any variable we wanted to that bar. Tried to attach image and insert image and somehting is stopping me.
Add Hyperlink datatype
Would it be possible to add a hyperlink datatype for use in product prompts. This would allow us to direct our designers and drafters to lots of extra information during the design process. I am sure there are other areas that this would be useful for as well that other users will come up with.
Hardware to work like the other materials (sheets & Solid)
Why do we need to duplicate hardware names adding the negative symbol to not have it load in the work order? Why doesn't the Hardware file work like the rest of the Cutparts file? Sure would mark setting up new hardware faster (two times faster) ;). Maintaining the different hardware is also an issue, when a token change is made in one hardware its not always that the change gets made in the matching one (this is a real pain). Temporary Processing Station Changes
I would like it if changes made to the processing stations from the processing center were not saved outside of the work order without being prompted. Sometimes i like to make tweaks to the processing stations for a specific work order and it would be nice if i didn't need to remember to come back and undo those changes later. Basically when you hit OK on the changes i would like a popup that says something like, "would you like to commit these changes to the tamplate?" or something like that. Otherwise

Improved Show Formula & Product Prompts
I would like to suggest the following imrpovments to the product prompts. I like the how the text box control type turns red when it is formula driven. Can we expand this to other control types? Red Radio Buttons for controls types 2&3 Red Check Marks for control type 4 Red Text for control type 5 I like how i can right mouse and show the formula for a text box control. Can we add this functionality to all control types?
Add more fields for materials
It would be really useful if there could be more fields for extra information about materials. Just like comments fields on products or xpart fields for parts. This would allow to give more information in our reports and give more information to the designers while assigning materials.
Setting up New Library
I'm in the process of setting up a new Library v50.5. Having trouble with the scaling of the Text and Item Numbers. It's probably a simple, just can't remember how. Also, the grain arrow is shows up on the right drawer fronts even though I do not have a grain spec group selected. Has anyone experienced this when setting up Library 50.5?
delete and create Activity station
how to delete duplicate activity stations in the data management which there isn't a delete tab and even if you delete the activity station in the process station its still not deleted in the database management so it wont allow you to edit the activity stations
Lost block attributes on a title block, but only on one work station.
We have a materials block in our title block in our template, and of course, all drawings made from it. One of 2 work stations lost the ability to add data to the attributes. It works fine on my work station, but won't open the attributes on any drawing on his work station. He double clicks it, and it just goes into node edit. No attribute window pops up. Does anyone know what could be wrong?
Commenting in the Knowledge Base
With the previous Zendesk Knowledge base, we were able to make comments on the articles posted. Now we don't have that option. I would really like to see this come back since the comments of other users on a specific subject can often be helpful.
Spline Machining
I'm trying to router some text into a part using a V cutter from an imported PDF, I've created a boundary, Tried converting to polyline as well as using the original spline but no luck on applying routering. Has anyone had any luck in this area? Help would be appreciated.
Selective Machining
With Sub Assemblies and Nested Sub assemblies In mind, How do you get machining based on what it is? I have a notch that I like to use on my wood drawer. I use a polyline token in the hardware with the following formula "=IF(S!ProductCode = "C,2,SA,DF","PLINE",IF(N!ProductCode = "C,2,SA,DF","PLINE",0))" The purpose of the formula is: I don't want the token active if the lock is on a door, I only want it if it is on a drawer front. I need to change the dado route in existing product, solid surface tops, to make a double pass for all routes.
I have been in the game for a while and for some reason cannot think of the best way to go about this. We have a drawer full of resharpened bits that can no longer be used on our solid surface due to the resharpening shrinking the diameter of the bits. Right now out dado is set up for a single pass, that with a new bit would create a 1/2" dado. I need to make it double pass so that the resharpened bits can be used. I need to make this a standard on my product, so that it does it eveytime this product
Employee Secure List
At our company, we've never had restricted access to the MV Template, Library Designer, or the Library. Anyone would be able to go in and modify/add/change the Template or Library if they needed. Since taking over our engineering dept., I've come to realize that this might not be the best practice. I recently came upon one of our drafters trying to make a change in one of his projects, but was unintentionally doing this at the template level. I know we can pull up a work order that has already been created but i would like to see an option that would back that up one step. I would like to be able to pull up the work order at the step where you are creating the work order and just selecting your products. SO many times i process a work order and something is wrong and i have to go back and make a correction somewhere and then run it again. Toolbox.err file location
This is probably a question that only Microvellum staff will know the answer to. How does Toolbox determine where to place the Toolbox.err file? I have had this file show up in so many different locations on my machine and the server it's ridiculous. The latest file was placed in the Graphics\Hardware\Wood Drawer Slides folder. I cannot find anything in Drawing Options > Files that mentions error log files. The path for Log File Location is set to a folder on my C: drive.

When you are using this function and you change a value to be able to recalculate the items you have set to equal so they can be easily calculated do not recalculate. You have to uncheck a box then recheck it then recalculate as the calculate box is greyed out until you change one of the checkboxes. Ideally, this would function would recalculate on the fly as you change one value or as another solution just never grey out the calculate button so after you make a change you can just hit the calculate
