Apply Materials Add New Colours
Hi, How do Add New Colours In The Apply Materials For Colour Pics?
Labels for architectural panels
When you have a room labeled "lobby wall panels", Microvellum will print all of the labels for those panels with "lobby wall panels" at the top. But for installation of those panels, you have to have each panel with its own row and column number on it, so that you know exactly where it goes on the wall. Is there a way to make that happen in Microvellum? Or do you just need to print your architectural panel numbers on a different set of labels?
Microvellum Tables
Does anyone use these Tables in MV? I've been playing around with them to see if they are worth setting up in a Title Sheet but they do not seem to be very user friendly. I can add rows but cannot remove rows, and cannot add or remove columns, or if you can I can't seem to figure out how. It almost seems that you need to have the exact size of your table figured out in advance. Are they worth using or set up blocks with attributes? I do like the fact that they can be resized on the fly.
Open Position: Microvellum Drafter
We are a commercial casework manufacturer located in Tumwater, WA looking for an AutoCAD/ Microvellum Drafter to join our team. Processing station individual codes for duplicate runs
In creating a nest for a job I noticed that if there are identical runs the processing station just creates one code and requests it to be run multiple times on the report. Is there a setting where I can get it to create unique g-code for each run. i am concerned that a less experienced CNC operator will miss the reference to the quantity and only run the program once. Thanks, Pete.
Glitch in the forums
I've noticed when I've posed a question that the forum states: "You've this question", I assume it's missing some autofilled statement about "asked" or "answered". Thought I'd point it out. Thanks!
Splitting oversized parts
Hi all, i posed a similar question regarding oversized backs, but does anyone have experience in splitting oversized parts? In Cabinetvision you just pick your part and choose the split point. Any function like that in Microvellum? I know the extruded product builder can split parts at maximum material length.
v67 Adding Routing to a Subassembly Part
Does anyone out there remember how to add route machining to a subassembly part in v67? For example, using the button "Draw Part in 2D" and selecting the door (subassembly part) in the drawing results in an error message "This selection is part of a subassembly. You cannot modify this part." If you remember how to do this would you reply with a short procedure?
Fill Wall With Products not working with some products
Occasionally I will try to fill a wall with a product, but the product's Width does not get adjusted properly. These are the same products every time, so it leads me to believe that there's something in the product's spreadsheet that isn't set properly rather than the actual "Fill Wall With Products" command misbehaving. I know it's happened with a couple products I use semi-regularly, but specifically now it's the Valance product. Library 44.1. The default value of the Valance product is "=IF(Units=1,96,2438)",
Updating Part
Does anyone know why my system keeps getting this error popup when I try to update and redraw?
Multiple labels to match part count
Does anyone know how to make the single part report print more then one label per part if the part court is greater then one? Thanks for any pointers!
Face Frame Report adding Blank Page For Frameless Cabinets
In my Face Frame reports, I have been getting a single blank page for every Frameless cabinet processed. Wondered if anyone knows a way to prevent this from happening. Thanks, Josh
Editing Materials
Hello, This should hopefully be an easy one... I am trying to edit one (or more) of my materials from within Project Level Specification Group, but cannot figure out how to do it. I have watched some videos and it seems like I should be able to double click (left) or right click on the material that I would like to edit, however when I double click nothing happens, and when I right click the 'Edit Selected Material...' is grayed out. I have attached a screenshot. Am I missing something here? Thanks,
label order for nesting
What defines the order of the labels for the MV nesting optimization? For example, our labels sometimes come out of order, meaning one label from one pattern will be mixed up with labels for another pattern. The information on the labels is correct but we have to manually sort through the roll of labels to find idividual ones that aren't in the same group as others from that same sheet.
2 sided cabinet
trying to make a cabinet that has 2door/2drawer on one side and 2door/false front on the other side- I have built two cabinets and tried to use the associative feature to transfer machining from one side to the other- I am missing the machining for the hinges and false front on the back side of the cabinet. Two options: 1- Can I copy the machining from the one side to the other side somehow? 2- I tried modifying the base island with no luck- I am running toolbox v48, where there some updates that
Nesting Parts - Centerline Routing
I created and processed parts for a die wall. When I open the drawing with the nested parts, it looks good with the nested parts being cut using Centerline routing. After I create the Machine G-Code for the panel, the Centerline routing becomes Right Compensated routing . I did the same thing yesterday with basically the same parts and the Centerline routing remained Centerline routing after making G-Code. I have not changed the toolfile or the processing station. I tried creating a new work order
Current version of Microvellum Toolbox
I am wondering what is the latest update for Microvellum Toolbox. I see build 20.1.617.641 and also 20.1.0708.641. Which one is the latest?
Upgrading Toolbox Version
This may sound like a really dumb question, but what are the advantages of upgrading to a newer version of Toolbox and keeping the same Library? I know continued support is one reason but what would be the others?
New to MV
I wanted to introduce myself, I am a long time Cabinet Vision user (I actually worked for CV as a support tech for a short period) just started a job at a Microvellum shop. I am pretty unfamilur with MV at the moment, but I am looking forward to learning as much as I can about it. I just wanted to say hello and thanks in advance for any help I get. The CV forum was very helpful when learning how to navigate the software and I am sure this site will be as important as I learn new skills.
How to make Hardware machining to move from face 6 to face 5?
I am using ROUTEDHOLE as a machining token for hardware (lock) and want to make it on face 5. By default, it is on face 6 and lock assembly is on face 6 too. Is there any way I can have that machining on face 5?
What is the MITER 2 8 TOKEN, or any other corner combination?
This looks like a machining token, but I can't get it to nest after entering the correct tool. This token started appearing after a build upgrade some time ago. Is it just a drawing token? If so, why is there a tool number field? Is there a way to make it work? We have a straight line route token that we use for applying a miter to an edge, but it would be easier if I didn't have to delete this one first. I found another token named "Miter Panel Edge" but this is not named correctly because
Has EQV changed?
Is it just me or does EQV not work like it used to? I used to be able to get equal spaced parts now they seem to be rather random. This is using the 526 build.
Add a "Spacing" feature when placing multiple cabinets.
We often do jobs that use the same cabinet many times, but with a specific space between them. Sometimes it's 3/4" and sometimes its 1/4" or something in between. I would like to have a "spacing" field in cabinets that would place multiples with the specified space between them as populated in that field. This would save a lot of time on certain jobs.
Project/Work Order Archiving Best Practices?
Our Microvellum projects and work orders list is starting to grow a bit cumbersome and before I go and delete something I will regret later, I was wondering what best practices others use to trim the old projects from their database. My goal is to have them around in some capacity but have them removed from our list of Projects and Work Orders. It will also help our CNC operator so he doesn't have to dig around for work orders.
FEATURE REQUEST: Ability to Copy a Category Inside a Project
We would like to use "Categories" inside our jobs to better organize the rooms. If we do so, we would like the ability to copy an entire category at one time with one click. So, if we had a category that was the 1st floor of a hospital, we could just
Tongue position change
Where to find the formula that sets the position of the line for the drawer groove that will fit the tongue of the subfront or back ? I want to add some extra space from the edge (from 18 to 18.2 on from the edge to bring the subfront more inside). Thank you .
Multiple Processing Stations Pulling from the Same Material
Hi, Has anyone had the issue of two processing stations trying to use a project specified material with limited quantities. I am pretty sure it has to do the scrap toggle but when I toggle it on the processing stations can't find the material at all.
Best practice for associative machining between products
I have a cabinet that is 120" tall with a lower carcass @ 96" and an upper @ 24". I have a single door that spans both cabinets with 5 hinges total, 3 below, 2 above. If the upper and lower are listed as separate products, what is the best practice for associating the door machining with both of the cabinets. Note that I tried creating a product with both upper and lower carcass and the door, however, the upper and lower will ship separately so the shop wants them as separate items. Any thoughts
Dynamic Blocks in MV
Hello, I had a late night thought. I can bring in AutoCad Blocks with dynamic features thru the DRAWBLOCK command... but is there a way to have that block inherit attributes from the design data? Let's say the block has a width attribute can I inherit that width's value from a part/cabinet's width value? Thanks for any input you might have.
Using 1/4" diameter Router bit and distance between parts
Hello, I am having issues with using a 1/4" diameter tool for cutting 1/4" thick material. We use a 1/4" downshear bit say Tool # T1332 to cut our G1S melamine. In the material file I have set the Code for this material as T1332|T1332 to override the tool selection to use the T1332 bit. The code spits out everything fine, except that the distance between parts is our standard .5625" set in our processing station "distance between parts". I am new to version 7 and am versed in version 6_7. In version
Easy question about inset doors/drawers
First post here in MV forum. Very new to the software as I just finished training 2 weeks ago. With that being said I am having an issue finding some setting for inset doors/drawers. See attached photo of a rendering and some of the ideas we are trying to achieve for a customer. The inset doors/drawers are about an inch or so behind the side panels, tops/bottoms. How do I make that work? I have checked all in edit design data and cannot find any prompt or anything to do that. Any insight?
Where can I find documentation for switching to annotative scaling in library 44.1?
I know the new library comes with it, but it should be easier to switch to annotative dimensions (and text) in my 44.1 library then to make all the other changes needed to the new 50.5 library.
Cutting Prelam with different Bit and different Z depth
We cut our 3/4" bonded pre-lam panels with a different diamond compression bit. Say Tool # 1333. In the material file for our bonded material I have set the code to |T1333. This works for changing the tool to spit out code with the perimeter route as T1333. But it adds a F2500 to the lines of code which errors the code out at the machine. Why is it adding a hidden feed rate? Sometimes I have internal routes that would need to be both T1333 and T1332(1/4") so I left the space before the [|} blank.
Nesting Part Number Sequence
Does anyone know if there is a way to control the order parts are numbered on a nested sheet? Right now they seem to be numbered going left to right starting from the origin. I was wondering if there was a way to get the parts to number top to bottom? We just purchased a machine with an offloader, so now the operator stands on the side of the table instead of the front, and it would be helpful if we could get the labels to print in the order he will be unloading parts.
How to Edit 'Fill wall with products' dialog box
When you place a product using 'fill wall with products' this dialog box appears: I'm wondering if there is any way to edit the calculations that give the defaults for these prompts. For example I would like Product Quantity to come in as '1' for default not '6' like it is. Is this something I can find in the globals or project Wizard? Any help is appreciated. Thanks, Josh
Is there a way to import a workorder from spreadsheet
I understand it is possible to import a list of products into a project but is it possible to import a list of parts specified in an XML or xls list into a workorder? Just looking at changing the way we are handling remakes.
Turn off Route lead in
Is there a way to shut off the lead in for the back dado route? I have tried setting the value in the global settings to 0, but the lead in is not affected. I have a machine that wants to add its own lead in and it doesn't like that the "geometry intersects itself". I tried going to Biesse and addressing it with them since it only does it on certain size parts for some reason, but they wanted to ignore that part and just say its the lead in from Microvellum. Has anybody else experienced this or know
barcode programs for edgebander
I need to generate barecodes for our automated edgebander but on of the info I need on my barcode is the program selection. The program code needs to be selected tacking into account the thickness of the edgeband as well as the emplacement on the pieces i.e.: if it is on the front and back of the piece or on a side. I know I can have the thickness from the edge selection at project creation but i'm not sure how to go about handling the edge placement part of it and how to combine the two into selecting
MV is Flipping Parts for CNC -- How do I stop this?
I have some single parts with holes drilled at specific locations but in equal increments. The whole unit had to be split up but it wasn't perfectly symmetrical so the hole patterns differ from part to part. We are getting one section ready to be dry
Tool Palette
Never used the Tool Palette before but want to start using it company wide. But can some explain to me why there are no drawings in my Tool Palette File? Where are these drawings being pulled from?
