Machining overlapping issue
Hey, all! To give some background to my question, I design cabinets and the question revolved around door hardware machining and fixed shelf machining. Is there a way Microvellum can at least give an error if specific parts are intersecting? I would love
Dado Gap
under library specifications group/global file/machining/dado machining settings & defaults/ dado depths & gaps : is there a way to separate back dado depth gap from divider and stretcher depth gaps if you are using mortise and tenon construction method?
Parametric Radiuses using Bulges
Hi Everyone, I'm stumped! I'm trying to create a a parametric part, routed on 3 sides with a radius on two corners. I have all of my points mapped out using the VECTORS and PNT functions, and am getting chamfered corners because I have not entered any
Add Read Only on MV Files, CUTX, CTPX, EDGX, HWRX etc
I am not talking about DWG read only, we already have that from AutoCAD. I am talking about having read only built into MV for it's files to prevent two users from being able to open a product, a subassembly, a spec group file at the same time and make
FEATURE REQUEST: Hardware Material Collections
I like the idea of having the premise of the "Material Collection" available for use on hardware. I use hardware arrays a lot in our engineering and would like to have screws allocate automatically along with clips, brackets, etc. It would be nice not
Best way to change the way Subassemblies reference Face Frame cabinet openings?
I am working with our residential side to get the default library (50.3) face frame cabinets setup and working really well. One thing I have run into is that it appears that all the subassembly inserts reference the Opening_Height for the cabinet. In
Is there a way get all Template level component options to show up when we start a new project?
Based on the last paragraph of this article it seems like this might not be an option. But as we are trying to get things setup we think it would be good to have this available. Link: Understanding the Project Specification Groups User Interface (microvellum.com)
QUESTION: How does the Top/Bottom/Left/Right banding in SQL and on reports relate to W1/L1/W2/L2?
For some reason, I am having difficulty seeing how the 2 relate. I processed several parts with different machine tokens and orientations, and I haven't identified the logic. I am trying to set up a report with the WMF image and the banding name next
Hinge Plates and Vlookup tables
How do you know which hinge plate you are using for a hinge? Here are my equations: =VLOOKUP(Hinge_Overlay_Left_Calc,LookUpTableHingePlates,16,TRUE)+(17.5/Unit_Divisor) =VLOOKUP(Hinge_Overlay_Left_Calc,LookUpTableHingePlates,12,TRUE) The first equation
Non-Associative Dado Machine Token
Is there a non-associative machine token for dadoes? The only thing I can see that works for adding dadoes is a pline. Even if I go into draw part and use the 2d machining tools like the rectangular pocket, the token generated is a pline. Basically, I'm
FEATURE REQUEST - Error Checking to Identify Circular References (& others)
In Excel, there are some error-checking buttons that allow you to scan a workbook for many types of errors, including circular references. It would be awesome if MV had those same options within Workbook Explorer, especially if it could check for circular
Does Edit Design Data Save to Library Level?
I am changing many drawing tokens for all of our carcasses in various drawing views. It is easier and quicker to work in Edit Design Data versus Part Properties. My question is if changes made in edit design data save to library level? You don't get the
Associative dadoes on non-standard edges
Is it possible to add associative operations to parts with non-rectangular shapes, i.e. more than 4 edges? This just a glass rack for the shop, but I have a good bit of bench seating coming up that this will become important on. What I would like to do
Where does MV pull the DXF template from?
Every time we open a DXF, it is zoomed in so far that you can't see any lines. We always have to do zoom-extents to see the drawing. I wanted to change the template so that this wasn't the case, but so far I can't seem to find it. Could someone point
How to fit upper cabinets into vaulted space?
Interested in knowing how to fit cabinets or open shelving, etc. to a vaulted ceiling. Is there a way to do this? See attached photo for reference.
Referencing Subassembly Calculated Values
Is there anyway to reference a value in a nested subassembly's workbook in the parent's Local? I know you could set up a variable at a higher level that both could see, but I'm looking to get a value that's been calculated, without copying and mangling
How do you remove line boring associated with fixed shelf?
I have created a tall cabinet that needs several adjustable shelves, with one fixed shelf in the middle. The fixed shelf uses cams and standard adjustable shelf line boring. I have created the cabinet with line boring in the correct locations on the side

How to create machining for drawer adjusters
I found a couple of prompts in the specification group global settings to turn on drawer front adjusters. One is a checkbox to turn it on, the other is a dropdown that allows you to set the machining to either drill or route. Once I set these prompts,
Create a default Tab Pull option in Toolbox – ex: Mockett DP3
I have spent the time creating and setting up Tab pulls for our use but there are a number of things that have to be "tricked" in the system to get them to work correctly. It would be nice if the basics for these were setup and the formulas adjusted to make them work. Things I have found or had to change: Pull location from drawer front top has to be set as .001 because if you use “0” it places the pull at the center of the front. Pull distance from top/bottom of door edges must be set to zero.
Adding Internal Door for plumbing shut off in a tall cabinet
I am attempting to add an internal door within a face frame tall cabinet product. My first thought was to copy the subassembly of the solid door nested within the product. However, I needed a different style of door (slab for the internal). I copied
FEATURE REQUEST - Ability to edit formulated materials in spreadsheet
Having to update materials in the interface only is so much more time-consuming than if we had the ability to do so in the spreadsheet. One example: Today I had 16 formulated materials that all had the word "Plates" in them, used in several formulas.
French cleats on CNC

Custom product drawing incorrectly
Hi everyone, I created a couple of custom products for our shop, but when I draw them in, the parts all draw above the z axis; in the attached photos the one product is drawing 11 3/4 above 0, and another one is drawing 10 1/2 above 0. I check the Height
FEATURE REQUEST - Change/Improve the sorting of formulated materials
It appears that formulated materials 1st sorting criteria is the material name, rather than the alias, even though the alias comes first. It seems odd (and unlike any other programs I've used) to have a list that is sorted by the 2nd object in each line,
FEATURE REQUEST - Sort alphabetically in Library Designer
I know that this happens on subs. I'm not sure where else it might occur... The subs in Library Designer do not sort alphabetically, and it is therefore extremely difficult to locate the sub you are looking for in a list of hundreds. We'd love it if
Weird Routing
Does anyone have an idea of what's going on here? This is a single door sink base. I have R and L finished and I cam getting this weird routing on the LH end only. Its happening on one other LH end as well. I have no idea what it is and I can't get it

QUESTION - What are the rules/restrictions on MV item numbers?
Things I've learned: - There can be no alpha characters after the decimal (we tried that once and it crashed our stuff). - If multiple special characters are used before the decimal, MV no longer auto-generate the next item# correctly when a product is
FEATURE REQUEST - Library Designer update to show qtys where used

How can the Product List (Overdrive) be updated when the formula value comes from the Global/Wizard file? Example: The base cabinet depth changed from 573mm to 588.5mm. The Wizard is updated to the new 588.5mm base cabinet depth. When reopening the
Aggregates
Hi everyone, I'm always amazed at the diversity among all of the MV users and was wondering what everyone is doing for aggregates out there. We have a nested based Weeke Vantage 200 (5x12 Table) and have always ran a Benz Duo with a miterfold cutter attached.
Making custom Hardware & adding it the the Hardware Library
We use a custom Toekick Bracket for all of our Attached Toekicks. How can I add this to our Hardware Library and have this show up in our Products when the Attached Toekick is used. And add pricing to this to show up in our Job Costing Report. I've looked

How to change the Machining Token default settings?
How do I change the parameter default settings of Machining Tokens? The attached image shows the default settings for a Straight Line Routing token. The default Tool Number {7} is 101. I want to update the tool number to reference a Global value.
Allow Machining Tokens that are made for specific hardware to Allocate that hardware.
This would allow us to have one token that knows how many times it is used and how many pieces of hardware it needs. And if it gets turned off, or changes the qty of holes drilled the quantity of the hardware allocated would change too. This would save
